Look out for some crazy t-storms and wind to roll in later this morning, say maybe 9AM or so. It was ugly here last night.

Dr. Skunky...I think we are having a mini tropical storm here. It is still blowing like mad with light rain.

I think we're all in for some weather. Rainy, windy, and cold here. I hope the pretty fall leaves don't get knocked off. It's our one compensation for kissing summer goodbye. :(

You DO know I'm back home in Indiana, don't you??? Are you trying to torture me? :idontno:
BTW, we got a good afternoon of kayakking in on Saturday. Had to forgo lunch at Amore's with all our SoWal pals, but was it worth it!! The water in both Western Lake and the Gulf was smooth as glass. We paddled around the lake first with the idea that we'd go swimming but it was too cold. The Gulf water was toasty in comparison, even though that makes no sense to me. Wouldn't you think after Friday's chilly day that the lake, being a smaller body of water, would hold its warmth better? It didn't. We had such an easy time paddling on the Gulf. The kayaks feel so much more bouyant on salty water and you can go fast. The swimming was really refreshing this late in the season. Better than summer to me.

Alright, here's how it went. When the Merman Taxi Service dropped off Miss Kitty and Krewe after Saturday's big bonfire, the Mermaid said OUT! BE GONE WITH YOU! SCRAM! (To all, I was duly provoked. )

The Kitty and Darlene were laughing at me so I had to tell them to beat it. Though I will say that Miss Kitty made amends by giving me a big bag of unopened marshmallows and a Hershey bar. ;-)

As I past Ed Walline park yesterday at about 4 P.M. there was some guy in the parking lot with a life vest on and he was dragging a kayak to the beach. There was someone with him with a camera and they were smiling as they walked toward the beach. The Gulf was churning like there was a tropical storm in the Gulf. I watched the news last night assuming their lead story would be a drowning at Ed Walline.

Wish I'd checked Sowal first thing this morning...
I woke up and saw the clouds and thought I'd better hurry up and go jogging before the rain starts. So, I get about two miles down the road and the bottom falls out of the sky. I got soaked.
And here is what I love about Sowal...I was jogging in a downpour on a fairly busy road. Virtually every person that passed stopped to offer me a ride home. Once you get to a point where you can't get any wetter, it doesn't matter so I thought I'd finish. I actually had to go up a back road because I felt so bad turning all the good Samaritans down.
What a wonderful place!

Who could pass by a child bride without offerring the rapunzel in distress a ride??:idontno:
