How are the beaches looking and how goes the action for spring break this year, friends? I am enjoying spring in the Napa Valley and at Big Sur, before heading back up to the chill and mists of Bainbridge Island. At the same time, thinking of all of you basking in the warm sun on the snowy-white beaches. Are there lots of people there for spring break this year? Might fit in a week at Conch Out in late April, if work allows. Finally and at long last, the Bainbridge Island place is together. I feel quite certain the entire neighborhood assumes I'm having a tryst with the Comcast guy, as his truck has been parked in my drive for hours almost every day! And after all that angst, I ended up going back to Quest!
I am writing a piece about buoyancy and why we are so drawn to the sea. Will share with you soon. In the meantime, please share with me, as I am definitely in need of a SoWal fix!

Hi Donna! Did you check out Kurt's pic of late? Spring break is in full swing. We had some warm weather earlier in the week but I saw snowflakes here in Ohio today.

It has been very nice and there are lots of people here.

I am amazed by how the beach is regenerating itself every time we're here. It's looking great, and I love the squeaky sound of the natural sand as I walk.

Even though I'm negatively bouyant when swimming, I believe the salt air must be condusive to endorphin production. One of the few things I will never become jaded about is that first panoramic view of the beach after a long absence.

Yeah, it's like thank you Jesus for gettin' me here! And like we're each such a tiny part of a great big blessing. And like if you ever knew and loved someone who loved the big blue ocean like you and now they're gone from this world its like you can feel such a connection. I

The yellow flags have been flying this week, until yesterday, when the Red Flags came out. The surf is up, the water is emerald green, and the air smells of fresh clean fish.
Pompano must be getting close. The humidity is fairly high, and yesterday was a day of mist and rain. Temps are in the low 70's when the sun shines, and drops down into the low 60's at night. Today is overcast this morning and we have some more wind. People are everywhere, and the busy week of Spring Break has yet to arrive. Publix's chip, bread, and milk sections looked stripped clean. Some signs of college kids, grouped togethered in clusters of 20 people on the beach here and there. There are plenty of high-schoolers running around 30A as well. The waiting line at Pickle's in Seaside is a steady 20 people deep, even at 2:30pm. I cannot wait until tomorrow for an even busier week. Did I mention that traffic around Seaside is a nightmare? It is. Destin traffic is not too sweet either, but nothing like the summertime. Yesterday, under that red flag, the surf was bumping up to the edge of some of the imported sand placed in front of seawalls down in Blue Mtn Beach.

And I hope it is warm. I think God decided to play a joke on me this morning. It has been in the high 70's all week. And now it is freaking freezing here this morning, and we are supposed to have a hard freeze tonight. I am so glad I am heading south!!!!!!
