Tell us you are okay. Give me some good details on both Friday's and tonight's storms. I heard that it is pretty bad in Coweta County, which experienced an F1 tornado on Friday afternoon. Some homes are reported as being wiped of their foundations

That's so nice of you to ask! I don't really know any more details other than what's on 11alive.com. I didn't actually see any damage, just high winds and very heavy rain.
Friday AM the weather got so scary that I let my class out early. You know how disappointed that made them -- students just hate getting out of Friday classes.:funn:
Today we planned to take Beach Jacket back to ATL (she didn't have her car here). We were in no hurry, but then saw weather.com predicting severe weather in ATL this afternoon. So ASAP we jumped in the car so we could get back home before the weather got bad. On the way back home we stopped at a restaurant and found out that there was a tornado in the county where we live. I know it was stupid (even the waiter said that we'd be safer at the restaurant than driving into a tornado), but we immediately left and drove home as fast as we could to make sure that the dog and the house were okay. The sirens were blaring everywhere -- really scary -- but we made it home okay. Then as it turned out, the county in which the restaurant we stopped was had more damage than ours. Those bad storms always seem to travel right up I-85.
Looks like Athens missed the bad stuff. Beach Jacket didn't report any scary weather in Midtown -- just scary people! The homeless people seemed to be out in droves this afternoon, and you never know when they're gonna come up and bang on your car window when you're stopped at a light.

Bsmart,
How's Athens these days? I lived there from 1991-2004. It truly ended up being home for me for a long time.
I heard the ATL area was under tornado watches/warnings tonight.

Oh I love Athens! I could live here forever, but unfortunately lawyer salaries are not that high here. Maybe one day I will return to my own practice here? Where did you live organicmama? I live on Waddell Street between Milledge and Lumpkin, just right off Baxter--walking/biking distance from everything and I love it.

So glad to hear you missed the bad stuff BR, Sounds like it was pretty scary! I admire you for taking the risk to protect your pup....I would have done the same thing.:clap_1: They're so innocent and depend on their owners to protect them.

Just couldn't take any chances on the safety of my poodle baby!

i know exactly how you feel br - when we would have bad storms i would worry to death about dory being home by herself until mr audie got home from work. i worried more about her than him... does that make me a bad person ?

I still really miss our Weimaraner.fartblossom
we went to the doggy cemetery a couple of weeks ago, and they have dory's tombstone down. with the wrong dog on the picture... instead of an old english sheepdog, it looks like a hairy mutt. i am gonna leave it - it is symbolic of the way my luck goes !
