I've only seen The Devil Wears Prada. It was so good and so true to form in that industry. It was chilling.

Still trying to get a free 2 hours to go see Superman.

RAIN, RAIN, and more RAIN :( Thats all we have had here in New York.
Let us know how Pirates was if you go. My 5 yr. old nephew wants me to take him to see that since I bought him the action figures, but I am worried that it may be a little scary for him. I mean that Octopus scares me a little
I have n't been out to the movies to see anything yet.

  I saw Pirates last weekend. It 2.5 hrs long but I still left wanting more. Its a little scary for a 5 yr. :creepy: There are a few things that startle you a bit. It was as good as the first one to me. I look forward to the next one with Keith Richards. He looks like one of the undead already. They wont need makeup.

We usually do the same thing but the wisdom  likes to go to the theater when we have a break sometimes so I go along. We go to the cheap matinee.

We go to the dollar movie or the matinees. Today we're going to a new Rave theater that is showing Pirates in DLP format...digital projection. I'm assuming most theaters don't have this yet. They have the big comfy seats with lots of legroom too. If the movie is 2 1/2 hours at least we'll be comfortable!

We have one theater that is roomy but not as nice as yours sounds.
Atlanta can be a little slow to get that stuff. Some areas still use a barn wall. :D

JT... Try the new Atlantic Station location. Take your parking stub in with you and validate it on the way out for 4 hours free parking.
We have seen only Superman of the ones mentioned above and also the Sandra Bullock new movie. Both were just ok (for us). Since the forcast is for HOT again this weekend I think we will be back there to see Devil.

Sounds good. We go to the Regal in Austell but I think I cant talk my wife in to and IKEA/Atlantic station movie day. My office building is right across the interstate from Atlantic station. Thats a nice development.

Thanks for the tip.

:lolabove: :lolabove: Can you imagine putting cake makeup on that guy?
Thanks for the input. He does watch some slightly scary scenes, but always at home, and if we want to change it or go to the next scene, we can do so. But in the movies, can't obviously do that.

We're going to see "Stranger's With Candy" in the next day or two, before it's removed from the major markets and sent to DVD.

Our daughter is a movie aficionado. She probably has 700 DVD's by now, like having your own video store. She loved the new "Pirates" movie. Like I said in another thread, I never go to movies in the theater. I'd rather see them in the comfort of my own home. And since our daughter has so many DVD's to choose from, why spend any more money on movies?

I really enjoyed "The Lake House" as a light romantic film with a bit of intrigue and serendipity in it. It is not a perfect film, as it does feature Keanu Reeves. But he has good chemistry with Sandra Bullock and is making a better grown-up than he did an adolescent. One of the most beautiful soundtracks I have ever heard in this movie. I went directly to The Wherehouse and purchased it.

I've only seen "Cars." It was very cute. But perhaps a little too long for kids (or their overtired moms!)

:funn: I love it.
Hoping to see "Little Miss Sunshine" if I can ditch these kids.

We just got back from Pirates. It was good. I do agree, it's a little scary for young ones. I jumped a couple of times. Davey Jones and his crew were creeeepy. A couple of hokey scenes but some great special effects too. Funn movie. And it was nice to look at Orlando Bloom for 2+ hours. :clap_1:

I saw previews for a few good movies coming up. The Guardian with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher is one I want to see. Seemed sort of Top Gun-esque...but it's about the coast guard.

Pea, thanks for the heads up on this movie. I had never heard of it. I was curious and watched the trailor. It looks really good and heart Greg Kinnear!! It comes out July 26th here.

My sister told me today that my 5 yr old nephew said he did not want to go- that it looked too "scarewy". he'll probably change his mind, but we decided we'll take him to that Cars movie instead. ;-)

I highly recommend Cars for the little ones. I liked it too -- not an instant classic like Finding Nemo, but very enjoyable. I took my 6 and almost 3 year old and they both loved it. It was the little one's first time in a movie theater and he had a blast.

The 6 y.o. wants to go see Pirates but I told him no way since it's PG-13. I hate how they market to the little kids anyway! We got a Happy Meal at McDonalds the other day and it had Pirates stuff all over the box and had a little mini do-rag inside. I mean what 13 year old eats a Happy Meal? I wouldn't mind if it were an appropriate movie for them to see, but it isn't by a long shot. Same with the Star Wars Episode III promotional stuff. No way is he allowed to see that one. :pissed:

OK rant over. :D

ITA on this one. My nephew is 3 1/2 and he got a sword from Pirates in his Happy Meal. I went on the same rant on the phone with my sister. Doesn't make sense. Oh, and if you do take your kids to see Pirates...all the previews are for more adult movies. Not one kiddie preview. Tallegeda Nights, The Guardian, and some really scary preview from the makers of the Sixth Sense. :idontno: There's no logic.

Will not happen. They are as sheltered as can be and I like it that way for now. Hadn't thought about the preview thing ... yet another reason not to go.

Meantime, hubby and I can't wait to see Talladega Nights! Ricky Bobby. :floor: :floor:
