South Walton Fire District NEWS
South Walton Fire District Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters Sept. 27th - Oct 4th
Fire stations across the nation, including your SWFD, are participating in the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF), Light the Night September 27-October 4.
The Light the Night initiative is a way to pay homage to those firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
By turning on red lights at the SWFD Headquarters (located at 911 N. Co Hwy 393) we are paying tribute not only to the 48 firefighters that died in the line of duty in 2019 but also to our own Firefighter/Paramedic Robert Heighton who died in the line of duty on October 20th, 2004.
This nationwide lighting event honors firefighters who died in the line of duty and serves as a reminder to their families, and the community they served, that the ultimate sacrifices they made are not forgotten.
Individual households, private businesses, and community buildings are encouraged to participate in honor of all fallen firefighters. To learn more about the event and see who else is participating, please visit www.firehero.org/light-the-night.
