❄️ SAVE THE DATE! ❄️

New Year’s Day!
SWFD Polar Bear Plunge is a fun tradition kicking off the new year in South Walton Florida...

January 1
Ed Walline Beach Access
GULF PLACE

The South Walton Fire District Polar Bear Plunge is making a comeback for 2022. We encourage our community to join us as we plunge into the Gulf of Mexico and welcome the New Year!

This event is one of our favorite traditions, as it gives us the opportunity to connect with our community and raise funds for public safety initiatives such as free CPR classes and fire prevention programs.

We're still in the planning stages of this event and will release more details soon, so stay tuned!

POLAR BEAR PLUNGE UPDATE!

We're tracking the surf and weather forecasted for this weekend and developing a contingency plan in case Mother Nature does not cooperate with our awesome New Year's Day plans.

If surf conditions are "Double Red" worthy come 1 p.m on Saturday, we will still have a way to "rinse off" the old and welcome the new, utilizing our firetrucks and hoses to improvise a sprinkler-style polar bear plunge.

We understand many of you will be disappointed if you are unable to jump in the Gulf- we will be too! It's important to remember that this year's Polar Bear Plunge is ultimately about coming together as a community and raising money to support our Firefighter/EMT Noah Collins.

We ask for everyone's patience and understanding as we do our best to lead by example and allow our Beach Safety personnel to make the final call on Saturday. We'll be sure to post further updates as soon as we have them.

**DISCLAIMER: South Walton Fire District personnel are closely monitoring the beach conditions heading into the weekend and will reserve the right to make the final call on whether or not the Gulf is safe for the Plunge as planned. If conditions are unsafe, we will NOT cancel the event. Instead, we will improvise a Polar Bear Rinse of sorts using our firetrucks and hoses. The final call will be made on the day of the event. Thank you for your understanding.**
