The ice just really makes things beautiful, easy for me to say I guess.....I have power.

Well the snow never really came, just ice! Which does look beautiful on all of the trees, but, then the branches are too heavy, they break, and to make a long story short....450,000 without power! Guess who's one of them yep me!!!

Well, we are right with you---no power, no heat--came to work to get warm. We also have a huge part of a tree in the middle our pool--I never really liked that expensive stretch cover anyway, but maybe it stopped the tree from cracking the pool. They say it can be days and we all may get to winterize our houses, whatever that entails. All in all, I'd rather be in SOWAL

My part of town looks like a bomb went off--all the beautiful, old trees that are down is staggering. We have a friend who lives in Mr. Kitty's old neighborhood, and he'll probably lose every tree in his yard. I took some pics but will load them later. Stay safe and warm, everyone! (lucky and her Mr. are on their way over to spend the night--they still have no power.)

I was beginning to think you all must have lost power last night.
Missouri really got hit hard - - much harder than here. I believe we were just north of the edge of all the freezing rain and then snow that you got.

Oh pea....that is so sad. I just read your post to Mr. K and he moaned. Ice is a real terror to trees and power lines.

a lot of smaller limbs and ones that were dead blew down around here. we went to the east side of town for lunch and to pick up my check card at the mall (long story) and all the street lights were out. we quickly came home. people don't know or forget that if the lights are out it becomes a 4 way stop....

Yikes- what a sad mess for everyone. Glad the heat is back on for most of you!

I think my heat will be back on by the day's end. Had to turn off the A/C yesterday.

Power came back on yesterday for us, but there are still alot of people without. I can't tell you how many times I flipped a switch without thinking!!! The sun is out today, its cold, but beautiful. He's a pict out my back door.

It sure is pretty, but so sad to see all of the trees bent over or completely wiped out. Had an "ice day" and didn't have to go to work Friday since we had no power at the office, but no power at home meant camping out in front of the fireplace all day Friday. We got our power yesterday afternoon. What a difference it makes, but I feel for all of those who are still without it.

Now, with the sun out, the ice is falling from the trees and shattering on the ground. Sounds kind of cool if you just stand and listen to it falling all around. Watch your heads!

Shortly after I posted that picture on saturday....we lost power AGAIN

Fiinally came on again last night -- good thing it was cold here yesterday, 19 and last night dipped into single digits. My sister and some friends are still with out power.

All I really wanted was 8 inches of snow and a snow day from work....guess I won't pray for that anymore!

Oh jeesh, you all have been through a lot this year!!! I feel so bad for the St. Loius area. Prayers for all w/out power still .......

...or a pain in the head when you get hit in the head with a monster icicle! You know things are bad when you have to wear a hard hat while shoveling snow to keep from getting knocked unconscious Driving to work this morning was like driving through a winter wonderland - the icicles hanging from the trees are indescribably beautiful until they start dropping. Then it's like driving through an obstacle course!

when we had our last ice storm about 4 years ago or so, a huge limb fell off the neighbor's tree behind us and was right up against our back door and all over our deck. we were trying to get it cut out of the way so dory could at least get out the back door, and we had limbs falling on us while going it - it was scary !
