The Bills get longer and longer

If what I just heard is true, the Senate has, indeed, lost their minds. The latest healthcare bill is 1,502 pages. Can anyone in their right mind assimilate all that is in such a hughmongous bill? I venture to say 98% of the populace cannot and 100% of the Senate can't, and while some one in the populace will attempt to read it all, probably none of the Senate will.

I don't see why the bills need to be this long. (This isn't a new trend BTW, just something we have started paying attention to.)

I also don't know why credit card agreements, mortgage documents, liability waivers, laws, ordinances, etc. need to be so long.

My guess is that the answer involves a combination of lawyers, special interests, and never taking a stand.

God forbid we have a short, readable, and easily understood piece of legislation that clearly says something and leaves no room for interpretation.

As we learned from the last administration, don't worry about the bill, worry about the signing statement.
