The "Gulf of America" Bill Proposed to change name.

A recent MSNBC article stated that Mississippi state Rep. D. Stephen Holland introduced H.B. 150, “an act to provide that for all official purposes within the state of Mississippi, the body of water located directly South of Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties shall be known as the ‘Gulf of America’; and for related purposes.”

HOUSE BILL NO. 150
1 AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT FOR ALL OFFICIAL PURPOSES WITHIN THE
2 STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE BODY OF WATER LOCATED DIRECTLY SOUTH OF
3 HANCOCK, HARRISON AND JACKSON COUNTIES SHALL BE KNOWN AS THE "GULF
4 OF AMERICA"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
6 SECTION 1. For all official purposes within the State of
7 Mississippi, the body of water that is located directly south of
8 Hancock, Harrison and Jackson Counties shall be known as the "Gulf
9 of America."
10 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from
11 and after July 1, 2012.
