Tornados too close for comfort

Somewhere earlier I mentioned our lovely Ohio weather. This morning started out to be beautiful summer day in October. Tonight? Really bad storms and a few tornados really close. We spent the dinner hour in the basement! I heard on the news there was golf ball size hail in several areas and baseball size hail reported also!! It didn't get that bad here at home. Mr. OL called home and said they went into tornando drill mode at work and could hear the storm pass over. He said it sounded like a really loud train and you could hear all the hail. An hour later he went out to check on his car in the parking lot. He said it looked like ice cubes were laying on the ground everywhere. He has many hail dents in his car and the driver's side mirror is broken. :bang: Is hail damage repairable?

Speaking as a survivor of the Great Hail Storm of 1995 in Ft. Worth, yes, it can be repaired if you didn't have grapefruit size hail.

Or you can be like me, get the check from State Farm for $3000, and total your car a year later, never having actually repaired the hail damage (I could only see the dents if I turned my head sideways.)

Yikes! I hate nights like that. The hail damage can be repaired. But, depending on the on the age of the car the insurance co may total it.

Double yikes! Don't think the car is worth $7,000. LOL It's a 2001 Saturn. It's a great little car so I'm bummed!

We didn't get any hail at home thank god. It was all around us. Mr OL was at work when the big one came through.

we got lucky o.l. we didn't get the hail either at home, but we've had close to 2 inches of rain since about 6 and man was it windy ! sorry about your car - my crv was sitting outside, and the were predicting golfball sized hail here, so i was a bit worried ....

The Midwest has had some wild weather this year.
Stay safe, guys.
I remember one summer hailstorm in Colorado that shredded our garden; basically the entire backyard became pesto. We got a new roof out of that one.

chemlawn just aerated our yard, and so not only do we have all these little dirt "cores" all over the yard, but now the yard is like one gigantic bog from the water collecting in the holes ! mucho funn with a dog with white/gray hair that is at least 8 inches long again....

Oh jeesh. I know about the white dog but I can lift mine up into the sink afterwards to wash off her paws. I don't think you can do that!

Mr. OL's car looks very dimpled on the trunk, hood and roof!
