Tour of Home Visitors Angry over parking citations in Seaside

When you have approximately 700 visitors viewing two homes in Seaside for two days where on earth do you expect them to park??? A volunteer for the Valentine Tour of Homes was overheard commenting on how many visitors were angry over the parking issues in Seaside. The visitors paid $25.00 a person to see two of the homes in Seaside and were totally overwhelmed by the $53.00 parking ticket they found on the windsheilds of their cars upon returning. Encouraging hundreds of people to an event with absolutely no parking on a three day weekend and a wedding being held on site was not the best decision. Most of the people were elderly and had to walk miles to see the homes. My question is how does a community have an event without parking permits to handle that many people? And what are the consequences if you don't pay the fines issued by security patrol? It sure would be interesting to investigate just how many $53.00 parking citations were issued? Happy Valentines Weekend Visitors and Locals.....:( Welcome to Seaside!

You're right, joho. In many ways, Seaside sucks.

People are idiots though. Seaside is thorough if anything. Don't park in no parking areas, do not block people's driveways, do not park in the schools park etc.. I was there yesterday and it was a parking nightmare. You had a parade, the home tour and Saturday had the farmers market too. If you cannot accommodate the people, like anyone can on 30a, then do not have the event. BTW unless a government entity wrote your ticket you can use it to light your fireplace.

As far as I am aware, Seaside is an unincorporated enity. As such, it has no right, I believe, to issue any type of tickets. If someone has more information, please state it.

More I hear, the less I want to come down. We've booked two more Seaside trips for the year. Always like parking and never driving again until we leave because we'd have issues with people parking in front of 'our' house and having to park on 30A. That's not the only reason we park for the week. We like the walking and biking. Ride our bikes to Publix. Take a small, soft cooler. Eat out everyday - little bites or make sure we have leftovers. That would be very expensive.
Parking is an issue now in downtown Louisville. Spoiled for years. No meter 'maids' on Saturday, so everyone parked for free. Not anymore. But still a bargain after 6:00 pm free and on Sunday.

So Funny

This is great. People want rules and regulations only when it doesn't apply to them...

Kudos to Seaside for writing everyone of them a ticket!!!

The streets are private, they control them. As for enforcement of paying the fine, not sure...

I'd put one of those boots on the wheel of any that don't pay.

Perhaps the Realtors should have planned better too...
