Tourist Development Tax collection showed a 12.68% decrease in South Walton for December 2025 compared with the previous year. Total collections for December in South Walton were $575,757.71. FY26 YTD (Oct-Dec) South Walton is up 15.96% in TDT collections.

The TDT, or bed tax, is a 5% tax collected on hotels, condos and other short-term rentals south of Choctawhatchee Bay. It is the best way to gauge visitation and demand trends in South Walton. The revenue supports tourism marketing and beach operations efforts, including cleaning and maintaining beaches, employing lifeguards, destination improvements and preservation initiatives.

TDT collection on short-term rental accommodations north of the Choctawhatchee Bay totaled $13,320.11 for December 2025. Collections for December in North Walton represent a 8.56% decrease, or $1,246.94, compared with the previous year. FY25 YTD (Oct-Dec) North Walton is down 13.73% in TDT collections.

As of Feb. 12, the number of active rental units in the South Walton taxing district was 20,312, and the North Walton taxing district was 886 for a total of 21,198.
