A Town Hall meeting took place this evening at GCC, with one conspicuous absentee, Representative Allen Boyd.

Burnie Thompson, on-air personality from 101.1 FM in Panama City, was instrumental in organizing this event, and I'd like to thank Bernie for doing so...

(Burnie, don't forget to listen to 30-A Radio whenever you're in the SRB 😀 )

I took several pictures from the event. These people are REAL citizens, no one was bussed in, their signs were homemade, and their sentiments were sincere. I've posted the pictures on a flickr page. Here's the link:

I won't comment or speculate on why Representative Boyd did not attend--I hope that someone can add their input.

I did over hear a conversation between two men discussing Rep. Boyd's appearance at a town hall in Bristal a few days ago. One of the men stated that he heard that Rep. Boyd was visibly shaking during some of the "feedback" he was receiving. I can't confirm this, but if confirmed, I would NOT be surprised.

I wonder how these congressmen can return to Washington and vote the way they do after receiving this kind of overwhelming feedback.

...Maybe Nancy Pelosi IS the Princess of Darkness...

Even as I write this and prepare to post, I wonder even more about the status of our freedom. Legislation is being drafted to grant the President the power to shut down the internet in the even of a cyber emergency--whatever that might be...

Guys, a lot of us are now awake, but we really need to wake up as many people as we can and protect ourselves.

This is bigger than just government-run healthcare, or taxing carbon dioxide, or multi-billion dollar spending bills to reduce our debt (I'm still trying to figure that one out!), it's about a small group of people trying to change our country. Remember, we are NOT a democracy, we are a Democratic Republic. There's a huge difference.

Thanks again!

Is a Democratic Republic different than a Representative Republic or a Constitutional Republic? If so what are they, because it seems with all the yelling and screaming that is going on at these meetings, we are acting as though those who scream the loudest are the only ones that should be heard. Are we acting more like a Democracy in our current state and for that matter the last 30 years? If open debate is what we seek and we want our representatives to be attentive, then calm rational communication may be we need. Or may be fear is the best way to accomplish the goals, of what I view as the vocal and angry mob that we have seen way to often on TV, and what has been portrayed in the print media to derail the current topics of Health Care, Cap and Trade. I will go on to say this, Cap and Trade seems to play along with NAFTA which did not bring out the politicians or angry conservative to Town Hall meeting to discuss this IMO. So whether you agree or disagree with the way things are being run, and it is great to have that right, maybe being construtive about what we seek and electing folks to office who are not career politicians, and maybe having term limits to refresh our legislative branch to accomplish that, although that even concerns me, we do elect these folks to the job and many keep returning in spite of the attempts to defeat them by some. I guess that is telling in and of itself.
Have a good day.
