I need to replace the front cv axle (4wd) on my toyota? Does anyone know of a competent mechanic anywhere from Destin, PCB, or DeFuniak or all points in between? Looking for a mechanic who does side work. All of the shops I’ve called are sky high.

You might try Frimet to Z in PCB. They are about as reasonable as it gets around here. Nothing here is cheap, and going with cheap might really burn you when it comes to auto repair.

Don't know year or model toyota you have but youtube has some great videos for DIYers

It was Toyota. No. I would look in Fort Walton.

I ended up using a long time mechanic friend of mine in another state. Just from my experience, prices along 98 in SoWal are THE highest in the area. I would look in Fort Walton, Niceville, or even Freeport.

I wanted to follow up here. Pop’s Auto Repair in Freeport. The owner, Troy, is an ACE mechanic. He has worked on two different Toyotas for me. He’s a Toyota Master Tech. Works on other brands as well.
Honest, supremely competent.
