Oh my, where do I begin???

We left home Monday around 7 a.m. and arrived in Seagrove Beach a little after 5 p.m. I had to drive the whole time while Mr. Beach Crazy tried to sleep after getting off graveyards at 5 a.m. I don't think he likes my driving but I just hate that big truck! We just took our time and stopped for plenty of bathroom breaks and ate in Pensacola at around 2:00 or 3:00 I guess. I called the realty company and let them know we were still a couple of hours away so they put our keys in a box outside. We ate at a home cooking buffet style place called Granny Cantrell's. We thought it was good and not to mention really reasonable. They had awesome fried green tomatoes. We are from the South, so more greasy food the better! We got to Seagrove Beach and went to pick up our keys from the realty company. The condo was really close to the office, so that was nice. We got to the condo, unloaded and headed to the walkover to see that beautiful water. I was not disappointed in the least. It was everything I thought and more, even with the grass stuff on the beach and green slimy stuff hanging out in the water. There were very few people on the beach and it was so peaceful. The only construction going on was a roofing job on one of the condos in our complex. Not ours, thank goodness! I called Audie around 8:00 and talked to her for a little while. Her phone kept whimping out and cutting us off, but I really enjoyed talking with her and look forward to one day meeting her in person.

Tuesday morning we drove down to the realty company, checked in, paid and we were off to explore! We shopped at Grayton Beach on the corner. I got a cool Grayton beach sweatshirt and hat combo at a little dress shop. We poked around in Kents? furniture and antiques then grabbed a couple of SoWal.com stickers in the General Store and we moved on to Starbucks in Downtown Grayton. Sorry guys, we don't have one here and we love Starbucks! We drove around Grayton a little but not as much as we should have. I never saw Steele Mama's house or the red bar. I will next time for sure. We drove around until the afternoon and went to the beach for a little while. I used the step down method on sunscreen so I started with 30 SPF Tuesday and it was just right for lily white skin. We left the beach, got dressed and went to find food, we ended up at The Crab Trap on the way to Destin. It was wonderful! We had great fast service and a beautiful view right by the window. I had the 1/2 fried shrimp 1/2 fried oyster platter and I promise it was the best fried shrimp I had ever eaten. Big fat white gulf shrimp and yummy oysters. I can taste them now. Hubby had the Captains platter and said everything was just delicious. We brought 1/2 of everything home.

Wednesday we got up, hung out just relaxing, then went down to the beach. I moved up to 15 SPF and it worked just great. No burn. I heard a couple asking where the best burgers were and I told them I had heard at Snapperhead's. The more we thought about big greasy cheese burgers the hungrier we got, so we cleaned up and headed to Snapperhead's. It was around 2:00 or 3:00 so it was virtually empty. You can tell when you walk in the door that it is a good greasy burger place! We ordered onion rings for an appetizer (only $2.50 I might add) and got a huge basket of hot yummy onion rings. The waitress was just precious, she was from De Funiak Springs. We ordered the bacon and english cheddar burgers that came with fries and slaw. Humongous burgers. I ate the whole thing and was sorry until about 3 a.m., when the whatever kind of attack I had in the middle of my chest/stomach going all the way through to my back, finally allowed me to sleep. Anyway, that was my fault. We left Snapperhead's and headed toward Destin. We visited Sandestin and went to one of the golf courses to look around and stuff. We bought some cool shirts from the proshop with The Links emblem and then headed to Silver Sands to shop. At $100 and $142 for the green fees in Sandestin, playing golf there wasn't going to happen. Mr. BC said he's not $142 worth of good at golf! I wasn't much in the shopping mood with my big burger riding around in my middle, so we just scanned the stores at the outlet mall. I got some flip flops at JCrew and Mr. BC got a couple of new colognes from the Perfume store. Guess Men and Kenneth Cole Reaction. Both smell really really good. We headed back to the condo and I went straight to bed with my heating pad. I tossed, whined and moaned while Mr. BC watched TV and stuff. He would come check on me and the only thing that helped the pain was him beating me on my back. I will check into this further to find out what happened to me!

Thursday we headed down to the beach. I stepped down to a 4 SPF because I didn't have an 8. Big huge dumb mistake. We stayed out our usual time about two hours and went to clean up. I kept getting redder and redder as the afternoon progressed. We went to play golf (he not me) and I bought a little package of 30 SPF because I was starting to feel the burn. By the time we left the course. I looked like a tomato! We passed by 331 around 9:00 on our way to Publix and I thought about the Funns being in there whooping it up! There were quite a few cars there and I saw the Sea Bar across the street. We got some steamed shrimp and other stuff from Publix and went home to add it to our Crab Trap leftovers. Mmmmmmm. Not one problem with my stomach but I sure was leery! By this time my sunburn was getting very very tender so I pulled an Audie and vinegared up before bed. It really does make the heat come out, I've always used it.

Friday morning we packed it up and went to the beach one more time to look. After we dropped the keys off, we stopped in Seaside for a minute but nothing was really open yet except Modica's market. We headed for home at a leisurely pace stopping quite a few times and made it home last night around 11:00. Boy did we get doggie kisses all over. We even got a doggie bath before she would finally lay down between us. With her paw holding down my arm I might add, so I couldn't go anywhere.

Thank you so much to the businesses and employees that made our trip pleasant. To the Funns, Cork, Allie, Kurt & Toots, and all the rest - I'm sorry I missed you all but it won't be my last trip to SoWal so we have plenty more opportunities to meet. To SJ, I thought I saw you a couple of times, but I'm still trying to decide if it was you! I'll continue this investigation.;-)

Here are some pics of our trip, I hope you all enjoy them

We need to set up a satelite to spot sowallers across the US! I think they picked up a flaming red heat body in Indiana recently also.

Isn't brown the color of toast? As long as you had FUNN, that's all that matters. You're beautiful no matter what color you are

Audie, if you could have seen him when he poked his head through that door and saw us. He was throwing his head back and had a howling bark like finally, they are getting me out of here. But this place is nice. They are way off the road, have a big fenced back yard. I just wish they would take several of them out in the fenced back yard and let them interact with each other but they won't. I am going to tell them he is arthritic and has trouble with injuring his front paw sometimes and that to make sure they take him out several times during the day to walk around. I don't want him laying in that vet 24 hours a day without some exercise in that fenced area. That is if we do get to come. Still unsure of that for other reasons. My parents are in an apartment and don't like dogs, couldn't keep one there if they did and we cannot leave him with my husband's mother in the country because she has about 30 cats and i wouldn't trust her not letting him get out and get lost down there or killed on the highway. So we have no other option.

Could your pupson travel to sowal? You could then board him here and visit him at the kennel. I can not stand leaving my pupchildren and feel your pain. If interested I have the name and number of a kennel in the area.

i feel your pain here - i don't know what i would do if my parents couldn't dogsit for us - dory would be crushed if we boarded her, and i have no doubt she would make herself sick grieving for us. i would probably have to consider cancelling too.
I couldn't agree more with you Audie. The thought of our girls in a kennel (no matter how nice) is just too sad. Boarding is not an option for us - in fact it's almost a form of cruelty. Pet sitters are the way to go if the 'children' must be left behind :(

And there are so many pet friendly rentals available in this area too ;-)

I don't know. He is the size of a Newfoundland and weighs 100 lbs. He slobbers all over the place and has such long hair, couldn't stand that in our newer car. Yuck! Anyway, we might not be coming if we do not have the money anyway. Good idea though. I've thought about it.

On the contrary, Beach Crazy, I think we're all crazy about your report! It brings the beach closer to us when we read about it at home. And thanks for the warning about beefing up the sunscreen. I got burnt during spring break and it was not funn. You'd think we'd all be savvy enough not to let ourselves get fried, huh?

Great trip report BC. I can't wait to write mine. I think I can tell you what the stomache issue was. If you still have your gallbladder, it was a gallbladder attack. It happened to me. I thought I was dying. Went to the doctor the next day, and discoverd I had many gallstones. Took my gallbladder out, and I haven't had any trouble since. You might want to go the doc just to let him check you out. Since it happened right after a big greasy meal, you can bet that is what is was...Glad you had a great time at the beach!!!!!

Thanks KDW and you are correct. I had another episode Sunday night and stayed in bed Monday, so hubby made me go to the Dr. yesterday. Right now I'm waiting on results from several blood tests. He thinks I may have had a pancreatitis attack in conjuction with the gallbladder attack. I've had fever and everything. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound of my gallbladder and he said we'll go from there on what to do. I don't want to go under the knife but I will if it means that pain will go away and never come back :(

I'm sorry your tummy hurts, Beach Crazy. Maybe they will find the cause and take care of it. I had a feeling it was your gallbladder. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Your welcome, and I sure hope you feel better soon. I never had another pain once they took the old gallbladder out. I am wishing you luck and a speedy recovery if and when you have to have surgery!!!!!! It is not a bad surgery, I felt fine in a couple of days!!!!

Yep outpatient. They do it liproscoptic. I had to stay late up in the night after my surgery though, because I do not do well with anesthesia. It all makes me very sick. But as far as the surgery and pain after my surgery is was not bad at all.

Sorry to hear of your attack. I have been nauseated for about 2 months...not preggers! I had the ultrasound for my gall bladder done and did not have stones....I had a hydrascan done and it showed my gall bladder to be low functioning and questionable, so I have an appt with a surgeon on Wed. Hopefully your doc will continue tests until it is resolved.
My father-in-law was extremely sick with pancreatis ,so I hope it does not show up again. The thought of surgery is a little scary.

Fast forward 9 months. 2/07 Nausea has come back this month. The ultrasound showed nothing last year and I never had the PIPIDA scan because I felt better. Mr. BC made me have it this time and the results show that my gallbladder is functioning normally. I have an appointment Monday and in the mean time he wants me to take Flagyl. Isn't this what Miss Kitty took after the cruise? What happened with yours IWIWT? Did you go to the surgeons appointment last year?:idontno:

BC, Flagyl is a strong antibiotic, so read the insert carefully.
I had a rare reaction to it last year of tingling in my hands and feet. I had to go off it immediately.

No, it dissipated after a week or so, thankfully, because I stopped it taking it quick enough. It started about 6-7 days into it, and it got rid of my bug.
