We are looking for a nanny/caregiver for our unique new family combination. Recently our elderly father moved in with us and he has dementia. We really do not want to institutionalize him, and prefer he spend his days with a higher quality of life surrounded by loved ones. He is amiable and sweet. He does not get beligerant and at this point only suffers short term memory loss. ( His mid term and long term are just fine). He does not wander or do dangerous things. He's pretty easy peasy and content just to be in the same room as others. He micro-naps about half the day, sits with us, loves to run errands, and watches a lot of Fox news! However we run a busy household with three kids and a combination of work and school from home so I really need extra help to avoid caregiver burnout.
We are looking for someone to work different days and combinations of schedule each week, occasionally with overnights should we travel and leave dad behind. In addition to this, he will have a bedroom down the street at his wife's home. ( She is in her mid eighties and cannot care for him anymore which is why he primarily will be at our home. We will bear most of the caregiver burden but he will go back and forth between homes daily .) So our helper will be occasionally at the other home also. He does not require any special medical care so your duties are primarily going to be keeping him comfortable, keeping him company, making his meals and drinks and cleaning up after that. If you can take him out on outings or errands that is a plus. We have plenty to do nearby in West End PCB/30A area.
We have 3 other kids however one will be leaving out of town back to college in 6 weeks. Our other two are aged 13 and 5. Occasionally you may be "nannying" for the 5 year old also but not super likely since he will be in school full time. He will be home obviously over summer break, school breaks etc. If you are a great driver, there may be an opportunity to drive for us paid also- ( kids school drop off/pikup). They go to a private school half hour away from where we live by Lake Powell.
Our family loves to travel and we are fairly outgoing so we really need someone who is flexible and interested in being "all things to all people". We realize this is a BIG ask, and this position isn't for everyone. If this interests you please email back with a resume. I will be checking references and employment. Ideal candidate is female, drug and tobacco free, clean cut, compassionate, and has atleast some college experience. A care for children and elderly are needed also.
Pay is $20-$30 per hour pending qualifications and experience
I envision hours being an average of 10-20 a week. If our family goes on vacation it would bump up to full time plus.
