So the temps here in SoWal are about 20 degrees above the average right now. Very nice. However, if this keeps up, I fear the potential result of the water temps in the Gulf for next Spring regarding hurricane conditions.

You're right it is very warm, but I am attaching a link I usually check regarding Sea Surface Temps. As of Nov 25, they are showing the nearshore water temps lower then average, and the offshore Gulf waters nearly average. Hopefully the cold weather will come in soon and continue that trend.

By the way here is the page I took it from:

Brad, thanks for the link and map. I see those slightly cooler temps near shore in the Gulf, but YIKES! -- look out there in the Atlantic where those storms originate!

I don't really have fear of all this. I know the cold weather will come soon enough. Just making an observation. ;-)

:idontno: According to weather.com, the average high for Nov. is 72. We've been right around there, and slightly below for the last week.

According to the local weather guys, we are well above the average for this time of year. Maybe they are looking at the current date rather than the avg for the entire month. :idontno:

In early 2005, water temperatures were running cooler than normal (in some cases significantly cooler than normal) right up until we got a temperature spike in late May/early June, and then look what happened. This far out of the next hurricane season, water temps mean absolutely nothing.

Cold weather on the way!!!
I thought it was supposed to be coming this afternoon, but current temp is 69 degrees and the wind is still blowing from the south. I bet it will be a quick shift in temp when that cold air does blow down from the north. Burr!

 It is quite a shock to the body. Last night it was 65 degrees and this morning 40 with wind chill in the teens. Nashville had winds at 60 mph. I just had a limb or two down in the backyard....nothing serious. Looks like a long winter.:(
