Noo! I'm going the LAST weekend in October!
Where are you staying?
You have to go to the Venetian. Go see a Cirque show. And of course Celine!
I have a friend that lives there. Want me to ask?
I know these are good:
Hard Rock: Nobu, Simon Kitchen & Bar
MGM: Craft Steak
Bellagio: Mixx
Let me ask her for you and I'll report back.

Ceasar's Palace.
My sister and brother in law loved the Italian restaurant called Panevino.

I've not been to Vegas, but my friend Candice loves Vegas and loves eating out. She said Circo and Prime Steakhouse were good. I think both are at Bellagio. Another place she likes a lot is at the Venetian, Pinot Brasserie.

My mother is just closing on a house in North Vegas. I will ask her. I Personally haven't been there yet, but I hear I will be going in February to help her decorate the house.

if you can only see one cirque du soleil show - i highly recommend "o" at the bellagio - it is my fave, followed closely by mystere at treasure island.

also, if you have time, rent a car and go see hoover dam - it is well worth the drive, and valley of fire state park was nice too.
you can get tours to hoover dam from a lot of the hotels.

I can't believe we are going to miss you! Kimmifunn and the Olives in Vegas.... it would be "The Perfect Storm".
So far, I have tickets to Cirque du Soliel's Zumanity (John R's recommendation) and the Rancid concert at The House of Blues (nothing like aging punk rockers!). We are staying at the MGM Grand. Please ask your friend about anything else that's hip and happenin'!
Thanks everybody! I posted this, went and took an nap, and woke up to all this! I love it!

I had a great meal at Mandalay Bay at China Grill. They have great bathrooms, too! MB also has a restaurant called Aureole where the big draw is that they have four or five stories of wine--floor to ceiling built-in racks. They have special wine girls (wearing catsuits, at least they used to...!) who literally scale the racks to retrieve bottles. You can watch from outside the windows--it's great campy funn! Also, MB has the shark reef.
I agree with Mer's friend--the Patisserie at the Venetian is really good, as are most of the food places there. I ate more than one meal there because that's where I was staying, but it was always good.
Make sure you go to the Bellagio to see the beautiful Chihuly glass there. And then I want you to go on a recon mission for me at the Wynn and report back!

I agree with everyone's suggestions here. Especially Hoover dam, Chihuly's glass works in the Bellagio, a Cirque show, a magic show (cheesy but funn), the roller coaster on top of that tower (can't remember the name), the lights downtown in the old original section of Vegas - the Fremont Experience (& people watch the freaks there too!), And the restaurant Peapod mentioned, Areola (I know I've misspelled it ;-)), the Venetian, the pool at Caesar's Palace. And if you want the best steak you've ever eaten in your life, go to "Golden Steer Steak House" on Sahara Ave. It's not on the tourist list, been there since the 50's when all the celebrities (Rat Pack) partied there following their shows on the strip. But it still does a booming business with the locals. Very dark, leather booths, discreet waiters. The restaurants are always packed and resrvations are needed ahead of time. So if you have your heart set on a few, make reservations.
Vegas is an absolute blast. I've been twice and had always said that I would NEVER go, but there's just something funn and carefree about it.

The best part about Vegas is hearing normal noises when you leave the casinos. That, and the outskirts of town in the dessert where you don't see all of the crap that is in Vegas. There is some beautiful country out there.
...But don't listen to me. Enjoy your strip. Did I say that? I mean, enjoy your trip.
By the way, You can be on my kickball team anytime.

Hello Everybody!!
Got back Monday night and spent all day yesterday sleeping it off!
Here's a quick run down:
Friday-
Stayed at MGM Grand. We had a room in the newly renovated west wing, very modern w/ a W flair. (The hotel not the president, Pea!) The rooms were small but perfect for a couple. Spent afternoon learning blackjack. Drinks at Fleur de Lys and dinner at Aureole both at Mandalay Bay...both amazing! Definitely check out the wine list and angels at Aureole!!!
Saturday-
Early morning blackjack. Lunch at Mon Ami Gabi in Paris. Great food, great wine, great view of the Bellagio fountains from the terrace. Best of all, great people watching. It takes all kinds!! Afternoon laying out by the pool at MGM. Then to Mandalay Bay to watch the first half of the GA/TN game
Those guys have still got it. After the concert, in the hallway on our way to our hotel room, we ran into none other that Hugh Hefner with all the girlfriends in tow. Of course, I could not resist calling out, "I love you, Hef!" I just can't help but have respect for the guy and, yes, he looks as old in person as he does on TV!Sunday-
Breakfast at the hotel. Roller coaster ride at New York, New York. :clap_1: Another lazy afternoon by the pool. Dinner at L'Atelier by Joel Rubuchon. Really great tapas and small plates. Most of the seating is at the bar so you can watch them prepare your dishes. Mr. Olive loved that! Then to Zumanity at New York New York. John R suggested this show to us and it pretty unbelievable. A little racy, a little funny, the performances...unreal. I have seen similar things on TV but there is nothing like seeing it live. Finished the night with a cab ride down the strip to Freemont St. Beautiful.
I give it an A+++ but glad to be home!

this sounds like a great time!!! I want to know what your quiet/cute/sweet amore says when you do things like shout your love to Heff? I just gotta know!
