Walton County Beach Code Compliance is asking for public assistance in having a successful morning nesting survey by the South Walton Turtle Watch Group (SWTW) on July 4, 2025.

There will be restricted access to the Grayton Beach access by vehicles on this holiday during the morning nesting survey. We will have officers on the access very early on the morning of July 4, 2025. Walton County’s Waterways and Beach Activities Ordinance prohibits driving on the beach from 10:00 PM until 8:00 AM or to the completion of the morning nesting survey.

Walton County – July 2, 2025 – For those who have permits to drive on the beach,
due to turtle nesting season, driving is not permitted on Grayton Beach between
the hours of 10 p.m. Thursday night, July 3, and 8 a.m. Friday morning, on
July 4.

If the morning nesting survey period is completed before 8 a.m., vehicle access to
the beach will be re-opened early. Foot traffic access to the beach remains open
at all times.

This will be the third year that the Code office has assisted the South Walton Turtle
Watch Group (SWTW) at Grayton Beach regarding vehicle access to the beach.
There will be Code officers at the access very early on the morning of July 4, 2025.

For more information, contact Code Compliance at (850) 622-0000 or the
South Walton Turtle Watch Group at (850) 865-4503.
