Mike Huckabee now a Walton County resident | county, walton, mike - News - Northwest Florida Daily News

Walton County Supervisor of Elections Bobby Beasley said he?s had three people in the last year inquire with his office about running for president.
Mike Huckabee wasn?t one of them.
That day may come, however, now that Huckabee is a registered Walton County voter.

...........

Huckabee, the governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007, a presidential hopeful in 2008 and an oft-discussed Republican option for the presidency in 2012, has not only registered to vote in Walton County, but he?s declared Florida to be his home.

For all that I disagree with him about 90% of the time politically, he strikes me as someone who would be a pleasant conversationalist in person and would probably be a good neighbor.

Rumor mill said he's made a couple trips down here using Destin Jet, so I'm not sure how much cleaning will be involved.

That's pretty cool.

The Huckabee family is presently renting a home in Miramar Beach.

Karl Rove has obviously done some great P.R. for SoWal :D.

I've heard that Mike Huckabee bought a gulf-front lot in Seagrove, but can't confirm that.

Huckabee Wanted AIDS Quarantine

Here is the mindset of our new neighbor......

In 1992, Huckabee wrote, "If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague."

Heard on the news he needed a Florida residency for some business dealings. Maybe he's planning on filing bankruptcy.

If he gets back to his old habits, the local restaurants will thrive. Better stock up.

I guess the seafood restaurants are SOL since he believes in biblical inerrancy.

Are his kids coming too? If so, warn your pets! His son likes to torture animals.

I hope his son learned his lesson.

Huckabee seems like a nice person though. I share nothing with him politically, but I welcome he and his family to the area, nonetheless.

Yep, he got fired from his job as a Boy Scout counselor for it.

Noone disputes that the incident occurred and his justification for hanging the dog, slitting its throat, and stoning it to death was that it "had mange and was malnourished".

And then his father fired the state prosecutor who tried to bring animal cruelty charges against him.

Probably looking for a way to keep more of his money since Florida has no state income tax. Many big money makers declare Florida as their homestead for that reason. Now why someone would want to move to South Walton in particular probably has more to do with that which brings us all hear -- that indescribable beauty and peaceful feeling.

Hey, Mike Huckabee! Ever Hear 'Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness'? | Crooks and Liars

Mike is asked whether an atheist is fit to serve as president. He starts off pretty good then blows it.

?I?d rather have an honest atheist than a dishonest religious person,? he said. ?It?s better to have a person who says, ?Look, I just don?t believe, and that?s where my honest position happens to be,?? he said. ?I?m frankly more OK with that than a person who says, ?Oh, I am very much a Christian. I very much love God.? And then they live as if they are atheists, as if they have no moral groundings at all. That?s more troubling.?

He is then asked "Do atheists have no moral grounding?:cool:" he replies "No :lie:, but I'm saying :lie:, if they lived as if they had no moral grounding:lie:. (Yeah Mike, that's the ticket  You really finessed your way out of that one:sarc:)
