May down 3%
June down 7%
July down 20.8%
August down 29.6%
September down 9.97%
?Anytime we?re down in bed tax it?s disappointing because we know that equates to lost revenue for our lodging partners,? said Dawn Moliterno, executive director of the Walton County TDC. ?All things considered, in August we were down 29.62 percent, so we are optimistic that we will see better days ahead and we also feel that the BP grant dollars we had really started to affect the September timeframe.?

You can't stop cheap, that's why September was down less than 10%.

Perhaps Ms. Moliterno should take a 30% pay cut until she gets those numbers back up?

That would be the way to do things. Tie salary to collections. Then you would have a very interested person in getting people here. You also would not have to gripe when someone did a great job at it and was suddenly making a million dollars a year.

I see those Rick Scott commercials are starting to rub off on you.

Rick Scott has nothing to do with it. Dawn took over the TDC with the promise of running it better than her predecessor. She hasn't, I think it's time for a real search to begin.

If BP pays you for lost "rental income", do you have to pay bed taxes on that to Walton County? :idontno:

Nope. The stay is the taxable event. No stay, no taxable event.
Same with the Florida Department of Revenue.
But you better report it on your 1040 because Big Brother is watching you.
