Here's the drawing of our little house going up in BMB. Note, parapet roof which will have solar panels and also note the suns - which are placed to track the position of the sun in the sky over the year. ICF construction with stucco exterior.

Thanks for looking

Thank you.

Are you going to screen in any of the porches?

Yes, to the left of the house is a tall screened porch. Above that is the floor of the balcony which won't be screened in. You can see 30A from up there. Kinda cool.

Been working on painting the stair risers.

Here's the first rustic fish I've done. MANY to go!

This was taken with my cell so the colors are much more vibrant in person.

Thanks again for visiting my house

Thanks!!! Oh and I am so glad you liked the mailbox - I was pleased w/the way it turned out. Going this afternoon to see the house once the scaffolding is down. That should really make a difference!

I'm working on the sun art for the front now.. Try to make it or buy it or what?? I don't want foam art. I want 3 suns (see first pic on this thread) or one LARGE one. Buy where to get it and which sun/s? Always an adventure w/this house. ANYONE w/ideas on suns - let me know

Thanks again all for stopping by.

The garden shop in Niceville on 20 has ceramic suns from Mexico.

Sorry I am not clearer - I just know it as the one at the top of the hill w/ the fence across from the gas station on the way to the airport.

You could probably head over to Fired Up in Seaside and talk to them about ceramics.

Great thread Gidget and congrats on your new home! It looks awesome and looks like you are having fun. It always seems the journey is the best part!

I have been doing quite a bit of driving around lately and have noticed a lot of new construction going on. Looks like a good sign.

Thanks all!!

The balcony rails are up! Now I can safely see 30A from up there. But this shot is over the neighborhood.

Oh goodness - I hope they match the other brown well enough. This was just sent to me via cell. I am so OCD when it comes to stuff like this!! There were like a million browns to pick from!!

Have you picked out the proper house coat to go with the rocking chair and shotgun? Don't go too flowery or it just conveys that you won't really use the gun.

OMG - no wonder they charge a goodly price for staining concrete floor! The prep, the actual staining, the clean up, the sealer, etc... TIME consuming and a pain in the back.

BUT we wanted a floor that reflects the gulf and here's what we came up with. It is what it is and the imperfections added to its charm. Another DIY project that went well. This pic was taken w/cell phone and with only one coat of sealer so I imagine it will only look better as we continue with coats of sealer. But here it is = ta da! Our Blue Mountain Beach Floor ;-)

Love it, probably one of the best stained concrete floors I've seen.

Thanks SWGB - you'll see it in person when I have my SoWaller gang open house get together :D This is what happens when you just have faith in a process and just DO IT! It is NOT AT ALL what I expected and that's a good thing because I like it better than I might have had it been "perfect" all over. And OH MY the $$ we saved!

Thanks again!

OK well, hmmmm SWGB - I just went and took ANOTHER look in different lighting and WOW - it is pretty AQUA !!!! :yikes:

I am HOPING when I get my cabinets, couch, pictures, rug, etc.... it will act as an accent and not seem overwhelmingly aqua. I still love the idea of bringing the gulf into the art of the house. Kinda think "Smilin Fish". Only ours is more squiggly like a galaxy of sorts. Strange patterns......

LOL - I found this out:

Hurray!!! I finished the fish for my stair risers. Now I am working on just the waves that go between each fish.

Anxious to see how they look on the stairway. This is SUCH an adventure = daily! Some look crooked in pics but that is just photography ;-)

Don't worry, colors always look bolder in empty rooms w/ white walls. Once you start adding furniture, rugs, art, to distract the eye and break up the expanses it will be a more muted effect.

LOVE that color!

Thanks - I am beginning to calm down about it - I do love the aqua gulf color and the walls have just a HINT of coral in the tan to remind me of the sunsets at BMB! Really trying to make this our vision of the area.

Thanks again.

The floors are great. You did a great job. DIY always seems so doable when you are standing in the store and then it gets so much harder when you get it home. It looks wonderful. I also love the fish.

Ok, so the solar panels are now tied in with Chelco. We are the 10th Chelco customer to have solar panels and the FIRST new construction to have them :D

Check this out: Our meter runs backwards lol!! I took a short video and put it on youtube!

Well, only when sun is shining, but hey, I'll take it!! It sends electricity back to Chelco when we over produce like that.

Thanks for stopping by

One of our North TX service providers is offering a SOLAR PANEL LEASING program with federal tax credits and provider rebates. They make it sound like folks who get in on it this year will not have up front costs. We have too many trees to bother looking into it much though.

IF the final rebate from the state of FL comes in then we will be able to have this entire system for under $1000! If not, still a great investment.
