Just returned from a long beach walk and there is a runoff pond in front of the condo's at Watersound that fills with dark water from I believe Camp Creek. The water from that pond then flows into the Gulf. It's really a beautiful area with lots of bird activity. It was only last year that I noticed two large industrial pipes carrying the runoff water that fills this pond. I walked around this area Tuesday and everything looked fine. Today when I returned with a friend one of the very large pipes has come off and it is in the middle of the pond. I am not sure who to contact or if the pipe will find it's way to the Gulf but it is a concern. Any suggestions?

The berms were installed last year to protect each lake from possible oil. We have seen this before when the berms get too much current and the sand erodes, exposing the pipes. I will contact public works in the AM. All the berms are about to be removed in the next 60 days or so.

I noticed that yesterday on my walk and called the administrative # on the Walton County website. The lady who answered told me she would pass the info along to the TDC & Public Works. Hopefully they will come pull it out soon.
Just walked by on Wednesday and no change. Large pipe still unattached and sitting in the middle of the runoff pond. I hope the Public Works people are sure it won't make it's way to the Gulf.
