Week 2...Spring BREAK?

I know this has been discussed before, but perfect example of "good Kids" on spring break is going on next door.:bang: It is now about 10:30, and the party has gone on every night since Sunday.(and this is the 2nd week of underage spring breakers- no adult in sight!- oh yeah- there was one there for about 15 min. when they got here!) Tonight seems to be the largest. There must be 10 cars out there and who knows how many people. My daughter just came down and asked me if they were ever going to stop so she could sleep, little one has woken up crying twice:pissed: Owner knowingly rented to them (they are good kids:biggrin: ) well.....there sure are a lot of them, and hootin' and hollerin' must come naturally with the natural-light that they had to bring a u-haul to carry it all (no, I'm not kidding- they brought a u-haul!!) Every morning my DH has gone out picking up beer cans and cups, etc. from the front of our house.

The kicker is that the 1st day they got here, they brought me their phone # to call "before we called the sheriff"!!:pissed: I have no desire to be the one to have to police the party, but when is enough enough?:idontno:

Sure, just send your trash our way. Like we don't have the same problem here. Oh but wait..we're supposed to be the spring break tenements? Right.

Kids in America are spoiled and loosing their competitive edge in the world. To many excesses..and not enough responsibility. Damn shame. And parents are weak and permissive to boot.
excuse me, but this from someone with tar like yours...or perhaps it is a joke?

Kids are losing their competitive edge because they are taught in school that competition is unimportant. It is constantly drilled into their heads that there are no losers in anything. Everyone wins! School systems are so worried about "hurting someone's feelings," they have lost sight of what it means to actually reward someone for achievement - be it academic or athletic.

IMO, this philsophy will not serve them well later in life.

Sorry for the rant.

JB, this has been a pet peeve of mine as well. You can't give someone self-esteem or pride, it has to be earned. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting article in New York Magazine called "Praise is Dangerous"
"Sure he's Special, but new research suggests that if you tell him, you'll ruin him".
Discusses rewarding children for effort vs. academic or athletic achievement and building self esteem.

'scuse me?..what the hey is my tar got to do with the price of eggs in China?

It's my car not my kids..who by the way will buy their own. Seems to me you missed the point completely...kinda surprising for a recent graduate?

What I have seen from the spring break crowd..alleged students, are behaviors that have changed my perception of what spring break is supposed to be.
It cost about $1700/week to rent here, and they are here in droves. I wonder who bankrolls their vacation?
How they behave and what they leave behind is another thread. All this from our academic elite?
Kinda leaves me wondering where they are headed with their honed "skill sets".
And trust me, the world is becoming competitive at an exponential rate
Its a global thing now.

While I agree with you about society in general, c'mon, you HAVE to acknowledge that your post paired with your 'tar was pretty funny. :floor:

Spring breakers can easily afford the $1700/week, btw. Especially if 8 or 10 or more of them pile into one place. Even I tried to do this as a youngster. We had 20 in two hotel rooms and thought the management wouldn't notice.   Got caught immediately, though they did let us stay the night.

Also I'm sure a lot of them are kids of local owners.
