Example: look at the now Blue Virginia General Assembly forcing draconian, non-Constitutional gun laws onto the citizens of Virginia. That, my friend, is authoritarianism on full display.

Also, keep in mind, Moscow Mitch might be defeated in his Senate reelection bid. I see no downside whatsoever in holding up sending the articles to the Senate.

You are quite right. Mighty Mitch set the precedent, by not taking up the vote to confirm Garland Merrick for 293 days. His reason was there was an impending election. The similarities are quite striking. Meanwhile, the House gets more facts, and perhaps enforces a few more subpoenas.

All it takes is a simple majority vote in the Senate to subpoena witnesses and hear additional evidence. I think most voters want the Senate to call more witnesses.

Apparently, most Americans think Trump committed impeachable offenses, but slightly less than the majority thought the house should go through with it.

The U.S. of course sat this out until Pearl Harbor. We as a nation turned our backs on the world (like Trump wants us to do) thinking it wasn't our fight. Our history is littered with gleeful injustice, war and pain, static among the variables of time. Why are we walking a path so much like the Nazis-influenced Germans? Is it to elect Republican judges, inflict pain on those with whom we don't agree, take up God's mantle (so we think) of protecting unborn life while we kill, maim and abuse women and pass judgement at all who differ? If you sincerely believe in a Higher Power I doubt that the HP wants YOU making these judgements. Hate unchecked grows and spreads.
