I admit I'll be glad to have a little break from being a slave to the tube, but what AM I gonna watch when no one's on SoWal and it's too hot to do anything else productive? Anyone heard of any good summer shows?

I'm ditching the tv on June 6, so don't look to me for answers. "Free at last..."

That is when my monthly bill restarts, and I just told them to cancel my tv cable. Forever is a long time. I ditched the tv back in college for seven years, and I had never been so creative and full of life before. I don't watch much tv anyway. Even when shows like American Idol are on, I am always busy working on something else while "watching" it. I like the Alaskan Crab fishing show, and some of the stuff on the History channel, but that is about it. I've got too much to do to bother with tv. This ditching of the cable tv will be good, because I want to read more, and not having tv will be a little more helpful in accomplishing this. I was once a tv addict.

I applaud you, SJ. I always have such good intentions at the beginning of the new shows in the fall and I don't ever wanna get hooked on any of them, but somehow, it always happens. I so know what you mean about having other stuff to do like reading. Perhaps I will take it up again and maybe I'll get so hooked on reading that I will be able to stay away from the tube....
I can hardly wait to see the results of you being cableless!

Don't go expecting great new creativity, because, as I said, I don't spend much time watching it now.

Hah :lolabove:

We'll watch reruns of House and Gray's Anatomy and watch less tv overall in the evenings (we watched dancing with stars, idol, and just started watch house and grays anatomy). Maybe we'll go back to getting movies and watching them since we never have time to watch them when they're out in the theaters!

We got rid of Directv and only could stand one week without cable. We went back to Time Warner Cable, now Comcast. Couldn't stand the few choices of things to watch on network tv. But I like a lot of sports and love CSS, ESPN and ESPN2 anf Fox Sports Net. And I love the Travel Channel and Lifetime Channel and TLC. Love to watch the show What Not to Wear.

:clap:We're going to see the movie this weekend for sure!!!! The more I read about the Pirate show the more intriguing it sounds. The contestants stay on the ship and each week someone will win treasure...there are no rules and others can try to steal it. All pirate behavior accepted.

When Sam was 5 she had a pirate and gypsy party. At the time there was an older home that was converted into a children's party house. It was the coolest place but they only stayed open about a year. The kids dressed up, they put make up on the girls and drew mustaches/beards on the boys, played games, danced and had cake. It was one of the funnest parties! Looking back now, I can't believe how much $$ I spent on that. But it was worth it.

Usually I am outside in the summer soaking up as much Vitamin D as possible for winter hibernation.
So unless a show comes on that peaks my interest that starts at say 9, don't usually watch much television in the summer.
Besides, MANgo usually doesn't make it past 10:30.
Now that I started painting again, I'll probably do that at night. My family has been making requests.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia doesn't start until late summer, but its one of my favorites and is only 30 minutes so doesn't take up too much of my time. I'm don't like or have time for too much tv either.

And according to some, I need to watch my vulgar tongue.

I thought I might turn my attention to domestic chores this season -Kitty, do you know of any good p***y grooming shows I might tune in to? I hear there is a Brazilian one but that seems rather pointless......

My interest is TV wanes rapidly w/ nice weather and more daylight hours. I know that I can always catch a rerun, watch it via internet or wait a couple weeks and see the DVD sans commercials if it's really important - which it rarely is!

May I suggest Hell's Kitchen my friend premiering this summer.
You can pick and choose which vulgarity to use, and learn how to cook at the same time.
