Exactly! When my son rolls his eyes at me he is usually saying nonverbally that "I'm stupid", or that "I just don't get it". And this meansit makes me mad when he  rolls his eyes at me.
Mango, you didn't have my answer in your poll.

When I use it, it absolutely, positively, always means "admiration." It means I am smiling and praising another poster. I worship all my fellow SoWal posters. See? I'm looking towards the heavens.

Geez kitty, you beat me to it!!!!
:lie:

I've always seen it used in sarcasm. Like: "Good grief" (rolling eyes skyward).
Or: "How big of an idiot can you possibly be???"
I wasn't allowed to roll my eyes as a kid, mom would always roll them back the other way -- with the back of her hand.

I personally don't use it because I just say it like it is.![]()
But I have seen it used a lot, and I thought Southern people were much more gracious to one one another, and if you didn't have something nice to say, you didn't say anything at all.
I can see it's use if someone posts something that is frankly grossly misconducting themselves, or if you really know the person well enough for them to know that you are using it in jest.

:funn: ...I used to stick my fingers in my ears and sing a song to drown mine out! Not a good idea.
Yes, but it was a lesson that stuck with us into adulthood, one I know I won't forget!
