June grass is what gives the look of slime in the water and when dried on the shore looks like a tennis ball exploded.
Check the sowal.com beach cams. Check them frequently anyway, when you're away. Ellen
It is great for a seaweed/sand rub - takes dead skin off and makes you feel new. Not kidding.
It is also quite comfy to lay on and the kids have a blast wearing it and throwing it at each other. Harmless unless you get an eye full - make sure they wear sunglasses. There isn't much funnier than a 6-year old seaweed monster dripping with the stuff.
