my ex is very sentimental...but not romantic...still waiting on someone to romance ME for a CHANGE...I don't think men have it in them.... gonna get some flack from this one....

With busy and hectic schedules not everybody has time for romance. I just try to keep my wife happy, do little things to help her out around the house(dishes,laundry etc.) and make sure she enjoys herself whenever we go anywhere. After 30 years the romance is not dead but is just lurking waiting for the right time to appear. That is always a nice surprise for her.

She says she keeps me around because I am useful and have a strong back. Also because I can reach things on the top shelf of the kitchen cabinets.

Wow, there are some romantic and thoughtful husbands on this board.
My guy only comes up with grand gestures about every 10 years, and they are not quite on BR's level. Every now and then (stress on then ;-)) he'll empty the dishwasher.
He's still riding high on one thing he did years ago that was a biggie for me.
I love my music in the car. I play it lung-bruisingly loud, which must look pretty weird, this 51 year old rocking out to Red Hot Chili Peppers or whatever in her Volvo wagon.
Anyway, for one Christmas, he borrowed the car, had a really cool brand new CD player and speakers put in, and had it all taken care of by the time we picked up friends for dinner. I know this does not sound romantic, but I really appreciated it!

As someone who loves her music loud too, that was really a romantic thing for your husband to do because he thought about what you would enjoy and went to a lot of trouble to do it!

The Christmas before our 25th anniversary I received a wedding invitation from my husband to OUR wedding. He planned a vow renewal on our June anniversary. We had a wedding ceremony at the church, complete with flowers and musicians, me in a beautiful ivory-colored gown. The reception was at our home with a catered dinner and a string ensemble (that included our daughter and some professional musicians). It was absolutely beautiful and very moving.

He took the diamond from my original engagement ring, found a matching stone, and a much larger one for the middle to make a three-stone diamond ring.

He took me to The Four Seasons in Maui for our honeymoon. After buying a ring like that at Neiman Marcus, the accommodations were free on our InCircle points. And the airline tickets were free because of all of his frequent flyer miles. Of course, we took our darling daughter.

That's a pretty romantic idea, don't you think?

I have to agree, it's more of the day to day stuff. He always tries to unload the dishwasher for me because he knows I hate it. He warms my car up for me in the winter and washes it in the summer and one of the biggest things is he gets up with the kids in the morning and makes breakfast. I'm not an early bird so this is a biggie! It's the little things and I know he'd give me the world if he could.

I'm pretty tired and don't feel like typing right now, but my husband is exactly like this too! Always been very thoughful of others, and is the best Dad to our son! All these things mean so much.

I couldn't agree more! My hubby likes to send flowers to my work for no reason which is wonderful. However, the most romantic thing he does for me is set up the coffee pot so that in the morning I only have to stumble in and turn it on. I am NOT a morning person and this means a lot to me. He will usually put a little post-it note on top with a sweet little message.

...works for me!!!! Mr. Kitty is very thoughtful and generous. I am very lucky...especially when he takes Molly out for a long walk. He also balances the checkbook after I pay the bills. He also cooks for me now and that is SO wonderful.

The Cap'n went to the nursery, bought flowers and then planted them in my garden today. Love that man!

I'm lacking in romantic moments, too. The only boyfriend I've had dumped me right after my senior prom. Now my standards are impossibly high and I haven't picked out someone who live up to them yet.

Yeah....it is a grayt game. My daughter has had many friends over playing it. Mr. IWIWT and I had a lot of fun playing although I play like crap......love it when I canuse the whammy button. The oldest child was laughing at us and commmenting on her dad dancing......something he does not do!

I have a good story about a good effort/no pay-off romantic effort that happened at our university's graduation:

I teach at a Business School and one year a graduating MBA asked our Dean if he (the graduating MBA) could propose to his girlfriend during graduation. Well, our former dean is a very good guy and thought this would be a sentimental treat for the people at the graduation, so he said OK. In the middle of graduation, the dean gave the student a special time during the ceremony to propose to his girlfriend. When he proposed, she hesitated and then said in front of everyone and the TV monitor "I'll think about it". Our former dean would tell that story as one of his "bad decision-making moments" and would tell it with great humor.

So one lesson would be to keep romantic efforts private...

My husband just did the most romantic thing for me....
We had just returned from Christmas vacation and I starting doing the wash from the trip and my washer broke. So he loaded up all the laundry and went to the laundry mat for me...without me having to ask

K is romantic but not mushy. He's too funny to give straight romance too often, he'd have to joke about it somehow. He's very generous and thoughtful, but it's not so much the grand gestures, as the little things that make me happy. I think the best thing is how good he is to my kids.

My starter husband was romantic, the only problem is he was also romantic with lots of other women. He also hasn't spoken to our daughter in over 2years.

Once my insignificant other decided to surprise me for my birthday with a large plywood cutout in the front yard, painted with sign announcing "Happy Birthday" and a large painted cartoon of me.

Well, he didn't use water proof paint, and so when it rained the entire sign melted down the face of the plywood. And so there was my effigy for all the world to see, melting like a candy bar in the hands of some fat toddler.

Funny, the work went from a Charles Shultz to a Jackson Pollack in about half and hour. I later sold it on ebay and bought myself a real birthday present.
