She seriously blows into town. Just got an update. They missed a tornado in Jackson by minutes, but are reporting flattened cars on the interstate, over turned 18 wheeler, building with the roof ripped off, and downed power polls.

Put your party pants on and bring on the planters punch! The Kitty's are back in town. Someone drink one for me since I'm in GA. with the flying monkeys.

Sounds like it was quite a trip. One thing about it, trips to and from Florida/Dallas are never boring. (ok..they might be boring sometimes, but something crazy always happens. Usually rain)

Unbelievable!!! That was a trip! Started with massive rains right after Vicksburg and then we heard on CNN that a tornado was on the ground north of Jackson, MS. Pulled over for a minute, then the rain slowed down and we kept going. Just west of Jackson was where we saw the destruction. There were four cars flattened, overturned 18 wheeler, some sort of cables on the ground, broken power poles and damaged buildings off the interstate. Rolled down window to take pic and smelled gasoline. It had jsut happened...there were some police there, but no ambulances. Very sad.
Then I heard from Mermy who was headed south to SoWal. They had to drive straight down in the storm system! Needless to say, they were stressed and it really added time to their trip.
But, we are here and oh so happy to be home!

So happy to report this from article....
Earlier in the day, the system tore through Clinton, MS, where a confirmed tornado touched down along Interstate 20.
"The cars were tossed around like little toys. It was a very powerful storm," said Jeff Rent, spokesperson for the Mississippi EMA. "A number of businesses received heavy damage and there was heavy damage to nearby neighborhoods."
Rent says a local elementary school near the damaged neighborhoods emerged unscathed.
There were four injuries related to the tornado touchdown, but no fatalities.
Mississippi Entergy reports 28,500 lost power, mostly in Hinds County where the Clinton tornado touched down. Crews are currently working to restore power and additional crews are on stand-by in Louisiana and Texas if needed.
I am guessing that the cars we saw were picked up from a parking lot. What a relief.
