My week at the lodge is July 29-Aug 5 (Rowie's birthday is Aug 3), however trying to be down for June 9 and who knows when else! Everyone needs to put their dates on the sowal calendar so we can check anytime we are there. Thanks!

We will be at Seagrove June 30-July 7th--hooray!!!! It has been quite the year--a good year for all of us--but I am eagerly awaiting our beach time. College kids will be with us--and daughter's boyfriend is even coming too!

Bringing Bocce this year so anybody that wants to play drunken beach Bocce, please look me up in July. I'll be the bald guy with a beer in his hand.

thanks for asking--life in Memphis is good (and exceptionally busy!) But husband and I love the city, and our house--tho it was difficult to send daughter (our second of our two kids) off to college. She wound up doing well (amazing well, considering she was never much of a student in hs.) Son is now going to be a senior in college, and will go to Senegal this fall. (both of these scare me to death!) Both kids are home for the summer, with good internships--this city offers them far more than they could have gotten in upstate NY) My work life never stops--but it is going well.

But the beach vacation is the highlight of the summer--we made our reservations in March!

Hubby and I are trying to save $$ to adopt our first child, so we've sworn off all luxuries for the next couple of years.

We'll be in SoWal the week of August 11 with another family. If the week of July 21 is still not rented out to others in one of our cottages, we may come to SoWal that week as well. We'll be in Maine for early July (love it there, too).

Nobody mentioned July 14-21?? I get the beach to myself??? I must have missed the posts with those dates. Only 8 more weeks until our large extended family makes it to Seacrest! And a few of us will be looking for those beach chairs and umbrellas.

We may not be coming to the beach after all. Or anywhere else for that matter. My husband had to sit down with the calendar and figure his work schedule from last weekend through right before we leave to come down there in August. He works a rotation schedule. One week he works Monday and Tuesday, then is off Wednesday and Thursday, and then works Friday through Sunday. Then the opposite week he is off Monday and Tuesday, works Wednesday and Thursday, then is off Friday through Sunday. And these are 12 hour days. He has to use 60 hours of his vacation for 5 days vacation, when it used to be 40 hours. But he claims that he actually will lose 13 1/3 hours per vacation day instead of 12 hours because of his rotation schedule and the fact that there is 4 1/3 weeks in a month. Does anyone on here happen to work any type of rotation schedule like this that would know if this is true or not? I do not see how his work can take 13 1/3 hours for each 12 hour vacation day he uses. But regardless, he says he is not going to do it and lose that many vacation hours for 5 days. I do not think he knows what he is talking about. The guy has four weeks vacation every year to my two. And he has to use it by his anniversary date every year which is August 5th, or lose it. Sorry for my belly aching but we are coming, that is the best week as we will have an extra day to rest before going back to work.
