http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrg_6dny6Po I've noticed rolls are narrower. Is this a trend?

LOL!!!!

With America's ever expanding waistline I see rolls of TP as wide as paper towels in the not too distant future!!

Love the show "How It's Made"!

My question is, which brand's rolls last the longest? I swear, with 5 bathrooms I spend an exhorbitant amount of time removing empty rolls and replacing them with full rolls. I am obviously buying the wrong brand. I suspect that maybe the fluffy, more expensive brands are rolled less tightly and thus don't last as long. Yet I always check the total number of square feet in a package to get the best price per square foot. I tell ya, it just angers me when the cheapest package with more than 4 rolls is at the $9.99 mark or more. I can't imagine how people who are on severely constrained budgets can afford TP. That's just just not right.

Interestingly, or not, we gutted and redid three bathrooms in '09. One bathroom has an Ikea tissue holder that I had to shim out to hold a standard tp roll[must be a European thing]. Lo and behold, the other day, whilst contemplating whether Rick Scott is actually an alien life form, I noticed the tp width issue. If you thought the folks in the Congo were suffering, I must respectfully submit that we are now suffering more. I can't wipe this sad fact out of my mind.

Please provide ample evidence of your statement.

I am now beginning to understand. I didn't know if you were talking width, or diameter, or what. You are talking length of sheets!! This would matter to me, if I didn't see toilet paper in terms of wads... wads per roll is significant and, for my part, has been steadily declining. They start to sell ya the larger roll, you balk awhile, until they subtly diminish the "regular" roll, and then, the jumbo roll looks that more attractive, until, way down the road, you realize the jumbo is just a scootch bigger than the regular was, five years ago. It has been going on with everything from plywood to computers to cars to , you name it...

Oh, by the way, a shelf will work better. and more much more consistently, than any toilet roll holder you can ever contrap...just saying...

thanks for splainin' things Lake! I thought Bob meant "wide" as in the width of the TP! He must mean the super fat rolls. Which I like because I hate changing the roll. Bigger is better. But, then the mega rolls suddenly are just regular rolls, then they shrink to little bitty rolls and it pisses me off and I have to find another brand. Not many mega rolls left out there!

Interesting toilet paper fact-

I have always bought Scott's Soft. Never had a problem, it lasts forever. Then when the new Walmart opened I started to buy paper goods and such there. I had company this summer that was complaining about the toilet paper falling apart that I had put upstairs. I had no idea what they were talking about because the rolls in my bathroom was fine. Soooo, like any good housewives would do, we compared. The pack I bought at Walmart was upstairs and the pack from Publix was downstairs. To our dismay, the Walmart pack was crappier quality for exactly the same brand and type. Reason #248 I am not a fan of Walmart. You get what you pay for.

I would have also. It was falling apart..we actually took it back to Walmart and exchanged it. They took it back. I showed them the roll out of the pack from Publix, totally different quality.
