"We are America's largest companies, and we have a plan to save you from the wide range of catastrophes that are likely to come from our increasingly unstable climate. While others look to Senate bills or UN accords for a climate solution, we look to our best engineers.
And our expert team has come up with a solution in perfect accord with our values.
Technological. Profitable. And, dare we say, beautiful.

Yea..scary actually..the Iceland volcanic eruptions are being prematurely precipated by the thawing of the northern permafrost zone..a few more of these dust clouds around the world and no one will be flying anywhere at anytime. The political Right likes to scoff at the idea of man-made global warming-- I mean the U.S. DID have a lot of snow this year... they also scoffed now as they did when they were informed the world was actually not flat, and they scoffed when they realized that possibly the earth WAS older that 6,000 years old....

....fasten your seatbelts kids, it is gonna be a real bumpy ride soon!

How cool to get into the Surviva Ball, jump on the Segway and roll into the Seaside. Have a few beers at Cafe rendezvous. You could drink all day and not have to worry about losing your seat at the bar. I guess they would need papasan bar stools.

Volcanic eruptions have been linked to global cooling, so maybe the earth "knows" how to take care of itself.

From NASA:

"As volcanoes erupt, they blast huge clouds into the atmosphere. These clouds are made up of particles and gases, including sulfur dioxide. Millions of tons of sulfur dioxide gas can reach the stratosphere from a major volcano. There, the sulfur dioxide converts to tiny persistent sulfuric acid (sulfate) particles, referred to as aerosols. These sulfate particles reflect energy coming from the sun, thereby preventing the sun's rays from heating the Earth."

Gee, LS, are you trying to say we may not have global warming after all and the earth itself can do more in less than a month to change our climate than man can since the industrial revolution? How strange.:sarc:

Probably the earth can change the climate more than man, but that's not the point. I believe global warming is (or has been for a while) real. Who knows if man is the main cause and who cares? We have the technology and know how to have an influence on our environment, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. Over long periods of time, I believe the earth will right itself. It's been around for billions of years. I'm sure that all kinds of terrible natural occurrences, like floods earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, forest fires have served to make the earth inhabitable over long periods of time. Without greenhouse gases for example, we'd all freeze to death sure, but you don't want to pile on in the middle of a warming trend. I don't pretend to be an expert on this topic.

What should have been the funniest thread to hit Sowal in a loooong time, got turned into a drama?

Here's what I think of that.

I did my best, and then I got sucked in to the drama.
