Yellow fly bite remedy

I almost posted this in the jelly fish thread, but that one seems to have devolved.

So the yellow fly bite remedy is the juice of a freshly cut onion. It not only stops the itching, but it also reduces or even completely eliminates the swelling. For some people, it's even effective as long as 24 hours after the bite itself. I know 3 different people who are very sensitive to yellow fly bites, and it was effective for all 3.

Would it work on dog fly bites also? I know they are probably not as bad but bad enough.

YELLOW FLY BITE REMEDY

sounds strange but, nupercainal, in the hemmoroid section. Weve always used it and it works great.................. glob it on there right after you get bit.

Well, I just drank a glass of freshly squeezed onion juice and still itch -and feel like I need to vomit. The remedy doesn't work for all, apparently.

I'll try washing it down with that hemmoroid creme and see if that works better.:puke:

Ok...who was the person who was bitten by a yellow fly and said "I think I'll rub an onion on it!" and how many veggies did he go through to find the right one?

Oops, I guess I wasn't literal enough. Sorry for the inconvenience. Glad others had the chance to learn from your experience. :funn:

I don't have a clue who actually found out that it works. I'm fairly sure the person who told me about it wasn't the first.

I also don't know if white, yellow, or Vidalia are more or less effective. I'd suspect shallots aren't powerful enough. There could be a science fair project in here for curious minds.

Who knows about garlic, although it should repel the dreaded vampire yellow fly, preventing bites from that wicked beast altogether.

Not effective on dog bites.

Oh, you said dog FLY bites.

(Wise-ass mode off)

You know, I don't really know. None of the people who I know that have used onion juice get any lingering itching or swelling from dog fly bites, just the sting at the time of the bite itself.

Calamine lotion works.

"It's gonna take an ocean of calamine lotion..." (Rolling Stones) :clap_1:
