Younger voters have lost faith in Obama

A recent informal survey of 500 post-grads primarily between the ages of 22 and 28 — 83 percent of whom voted for President Barack Obama in 2008 — found just 27 percent of Obama’s previous youth supporters plan to vote for him again, The Daily Caller reports. That’s a drop of almost 60 points.

Ouch. Losing this demographic would hurt him big time. The jewish vote is now in question as well. Things are looking up for the GOP if they can just find the right candidate.

That's a big IF. Most of their candidates are either a joke or so far from the youth vote it's funny. Pawlenty is one of the few good ones.

I'll believe disillusioned with Obama, but not disillusioned enough to vote for a GOP candidate instead of him.

Yes, I'm sure these young voters will cast their vote for Santorum, Gingrich, or Bachman instead of Obama.

Staying at home due to lack of enthusiasm is the big issue. Young voters don't vote unless they are fired up.

This is what I could see as a problem. The get out the vote will likely be crucial.

If anyone doesn't feel like clicking through, the sources used in the article are Tucker Carlson/a Dick Cheney cronie's web site and the Liberty University crowd.

Maybe you should take your own advice, click through, and read a bit deeper.. :lolabove:

It could be due to many people's view of government changing once they get out of college and begin working.

It is interesting how people's view of government changes once they start paying taxes and see what they are (and are not) getting for their money. The Churchill quote "If you're in your 20's and not a liberal, you have no heart. If you're in your 40's and still a liberal, you have no brains. " has a lot of truth in it.

Clicked through, read deeper, and still didn't get a sense that Maddalone was a valid polling operation or that his sample reflected that age group as a whole. Closest I could find was

http://news.yahoo.com/s/dailycaller...ncmFkc3NvdXJvbm9iYW1hc3VydmV5c3NheQRwb3MDMTUE

"Maddalone’s group of mostly male, urban, and upwardly-mobile professionals." suggesting he cherry picked his sample.

I did however learn that their founder considers Atlas Shrugged to be the best book evah! Take that how you will.

There are a couple other surveys mentioned in the article that sound promising if you're with the GOP (and probably contain good datasets) but I'm inclined to call Maddalone's 'survey' at this point to be bunk.

If people are getting out of college and working I don't think they'll be complaining. No, I think there's a segment that thinks Obama is to far to the right (if you can believe that). Oh well, they've got nowhere else to go at the moment.

Obama sucks so bad the Democrats/MSM are on a desperate mission to discredit any challenger. Obama is a total joke on almost all fronts, following in the the exact footsteps of Carter. He's pissing off our allies and trying to be friends with our enemies. Any average republican stands a very good chance of winning.

Honestly, the Republicans are doing all of his work for him. They are effing themselves. There are no challengers to discredit.

Wow, thank you for another profound post with a conservative narrative. I'm not claiming you are wrong but would you please give credible supporting documentation for the following:

1. Obama sucks so bad
2. the Democrats/MSM are on a desperate mission to discredit any challenger
3. Obama is a total joke on almost all fronts
4. following in the the exact footsteps of Carter
5. He's pissing off our allies
6. trying to be friends with our enemies
7. Any average republican stands a very good chance of winning

Ron Hart collumns do not count.

Ha! Yes, that is truly an inspirational crowd isn't it. There probably would be considerable youth support of Ron Paul, but I don't think that will ever happen--plus I don't think Paul is the kind of guy who throws his support to anyone.

What the heil is an average Republican, today?... that seems to be the problem, the average Republican will never exist because their platform is all over the place--there might be an average Tea Party Republican, an average liberal GOP'er, an average John Bircher, an average Liber-publican, or an average mainstream Republican...but, they will never "average" out together for the perfect misfit of a candidate, ever.

Seems we all agree Obama sucks. Those on the left seem very nervous lately.

No, we don't.

News flash - most of America has accepted gay people, dislikes abortion but thinks you should stay out of women's hoo-has, and is really MUCH more concerned with the economy, the debt, and the $$$ going out the window for war.

Well put--except for the hoo-ha reference.

Actually, that depends. A majority of americans feel access to abortion should be regulated so that it is not abused as a simple form of birth control. A super majority feel late term abortions should only be allowed under extreme circumstances. Generally americans feel abortion services should be available, but a majority also feel Roe vs. Wade was not Constitutional. It's definitely a mixed bag of opinion.
