Video: SoWal Junior Lifeguards Hit the Beach
The South Walton Fire District’s Junior Lifeguard Program is tearing it up this summer at the Ed Walline Beach Access in Santa Rosa Beach.
It’s an excellent program in its fourth year under the direction of Beach Safety Director Gary Wise.
The students learn about the beach environment, including wave formation, how to identify a rip current and what to do if you are caught in one. The program provides training in water rescue techniques, first aid and CPR. Additional activities include kayaking, surfing and boogie boarding.
