Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County
South Walton is a haven for arts and culture and home to many talented artists, galleries and arts organizations. Many of these artists and businesses are members of the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA), the local arts organization that supports the arts through leadership, advocacy, funding, programs and education.
The Cultural Arts Alliance produces some of biggest arts events in South Walton, and some have even garnered national attention. 30A Songwriters Festival, South Walton Fashion Week, ArtsQuest, Flutterby Festival and the Seaside Writers Conference are all part of CAA efforts to promote the arts in South Walton.
The Bayou Arts Center is the home of CAA and a venue for exhibits, classes, meetings and small events. Nestled among the long leaf pines on historic Hogtown Bayou, the Bayou Arts Center is a hidden gem and a peaceful destination for art, culture, heritage and nature.
Artists would be hard pressed to find another location as beautiful and welcoming as the Bayou Arts Center. The studio itself is an open room with large windows that let in lots of light and glimpses of the surrounding landscape dominated by tall pines and green scrub bushes.
The CAA offers over 200 affordable art classes each year for artists of all ages and skill levels. From after-school and summer programs for kids to Oil, Acrylic, Pottery, Fiber and Watercolor classes for adults, the CAA has a class for everyone. Please visit www.culturalartsalliance.com/classes to view upcoming workshops and call 850-622-5970 to register.
The Foster Gallery at The Market Shops, an artist co-operative led by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, features original work by CAA member artists on a seasonal rotation. The art gallery strives to promote artistic excellence in the community, while providing a venue through which artist members can show and sell their art. The Foster Gallery is also expected to be a focal point for community gatherings, such as artist receptions and openings.
The Foster Gallery is located next to DIG Eatery and Ben & Jerry's in The Market Shops located at the entrance to Sandestin in Miramar Beach. The gallery will be open Monday – Friday from noon – 7pm (subject to change).
