Six of Broadway’s hottest performers will appear at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College on Oct. 11, 7:30 p.m. in BROADWAY ROX. The live rock-style concert event celebrates the rock and pop hits of Broadway, including Wicked, Jersey Boys, Rent, The Who’s Tommy, Mamma Mia, Smokey Joe’s Café, Hair, Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ Superstar and many more!
BROADWAY ROX features a five-piece rock band and brand new exciting musical arrangements created by Broadway composer and musical director, Jason Howland (Little Women, Jekyll & Hyde, Flash Dance). The brand new theatrical concert debuted in the spring to sold out shows and features AMERICAN IDOL’S Shannon McGrane (a finalist this season on Idol) and Broadway stars Carrie Manolakos (Mamma Mia & Wicked - who along with her Broadway credits is closing on a million hits for her YouTube sensation, "Creep”), Justin Matthew Sargent (taking a leave from his lead role in Rock Of Ages to perform this portion of the tour), Shelley Thomas (Rent, Brooklyn) and Dustin Brayley (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Saturday Night Fever) and Darren Ritchie (Wonderland, Dracula, Little Shop).
In a New York and Niceville twist, the talented Northwest Florida State College Soundsations Showchoir and Raider Rhythms dance team have been invited to join the Broadway stars in several musical numbers during the show. The student performers include: Elise Jenkins and Hanna Kania of Crestview; Nathan Fife and Michelle Hebert of Destin; Javonte Coleman, Xavi Murdock, Sarah Hawn, Gabbi Lindley, and Ashley Meyer of Fort Walton Beach; Joshua Whitaker of Freeport; Charles Buice of Mary Esther; Donovan Black, Ashley Carter, Vini Febus, and Edgar Franco of Navarre; Caleb Bartee, Hector Delgado, Danielle Fox, Kyrsten Johnston, Ken Martin, Mallory Olds, Jamie Roberts, Ashley Robinson, Sivu Schlegel, and Rebecca Wheeler of Niceville; Nate Beechum of Shalimar; and Marisha Brown of Neosho, MO.
