Your Specific Responsibilities:
The Site Supervisor/Operator/Mechanic will work closely with the Environmental Specialist III at the District One office and will be based out of Deer Lake State Park. This position will work in the field to lead and oversee a group of operators to achieve conservation and management goals. This position is expected to know the appropriate implements to achieve the desired goals environmentally while maintaining the equipment and tractors to a state of high readiness.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Wetland habitats
Handheld GPS units
SKILL IN:
Mapping software such as GIS or Google Earth
Trailering, loading, driving, and operating trucks
Operating UTV, excavator, track loader, skid steer, tractor, and other equipment in remote locations and difficult terrain
Microsoft Office (specifically PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Critical thinking for addressing complex challenges in the field
ABILITY TO:
Work flexible work schedule including long days in the field.
Work effectively with little direct supervision, in remote locations, and rugged weather conditions
Participate in prescribed burning and other resource management activities
Identify and investigate problems
Communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing
Plan, evaluate, analyze data, and prepare reports
Develop and organize data logically for presentation in reports and other written documents
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Understand and apply rules, regulations, and procedures
Maintain facilities and equipment
Perform a variety of skilled trade functions
Use assorted hand power/gas tools and equipment
Perform physical labor
Deal with park visitors effectively
Operate marine vessels, motor vehicles, light and heavy equipment
Maintain a valid driver license
Minimum Qualifications:
