January 24, 2014 by SoWal Staff

SoWal local Emeril Lagasse just kicked off season two of Emeril's Florida on the Cooking Channel, and our beloved South Walton takes center stage. This season, SoWal is featured in nine different segments, with the first airing Sunday, Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. CST. Two episodes focusing solely on South Walton Beaches air Sunday, Jan. 26 at 1:30 p.m. CST and Sunday, Mar. 2 at 1:30 p.m. CST.

Nine locations welcomed Emeril:  Havana Beach Bar & Grill, V Seagrove, 723 Whiskey Bravo, Seaside’s Airstream row, Crust Artisan Bakery, Seagar’s Prime Steaks and Seafood, Marlin Grill and The Wine Bar at Grand Boulevard. The Marina at Baytowne Wharf, where Chef Emeril prepared a fresh catch with Florida Governor Rick Scott in season one, will once again feature fresh seafood in South Walton.

“South Walton took part in a very unique opportunity to showcase what makes the destination so special,” said Jon Ervin, director of marketing and communications for Walton County TDC. “Our area offers a complete vacation experience in part thanks to some of the most passionate restaurateurs, which of course beachgoers have come to love.”

The Cooking Channel’s first season of Emeril's Florida was viewed by an estimated one million U.S. households and was then was picked up by Food Network and re-aired last summer to more than 2.5 million more homes.

“A celebrity chef of Emeril’s stature, savoring what makes South Walton a culinary destination is a powerful boost to the local economy,” added Ervin. “Season one was great, and in season two, Chef Lagasse’s enthusiasm for the Florida location he calls home is even more evident.”
