Hi....I'm new to the boards and new to the Beaches of South Walton. My family and I will be staying on Seagrove beach Thanksgiving week and I can't wait. We usually stay in Gulf Shores. Can anyone describe how South Walton beaches will be different from Gulf Shores as far as the beaches themselves and the activities offered?
And, the question I really wanted to ask is, are there any restaurants or grocery stores that we could order a Thanksgiving turkey from? I REALLY don't want to haul a turkey all the way from Baton Rouge. 😀
One more question if you don't mind (I'm sitting here in Baton Rouge trying to take my mind off Rita passing over as I type. ....Still have power so it's all good at the moment). Is there much difference in East Seagrove and West Seagrove?
Thank you all....

Hi ellesu...
I think I saw frozen Turduckens at Shrimpers which is on 98 about two miles east of Sandestin. They also had boudin and andouille (couldn't find tasso though). You'll feel right at home!! 😀
New Year's just makes me think of confetti in the Red Bar.
Ummmm....I've heard of the Red Bar. But I can't remember where. I'll look it up.
Don't you feel sorry for those who don't have beach memories?
Wonder what Stevie will paint, now that he can't beat Georgia anymore? Maybe SJ's frogs???
:lolabove: With Visor Boy's luck those 'froggie pictures' would probably make him a fortune. I don't think the visor's hit the ground yet, but it's come close....
Publix will cook you a Turkey Dinner
Thanks! That's probably what I'll do. ....Save the restaurants for other days and nights. 😀
I hate to break this to you, ellesu, but my undergrad degree is from Tulane. We always considered LSU our biggest rival, although realistically we couldn't compete with them. However, one year when my husband was on the Tulane basketball team, they beat LSU twice, and the booster club gave all of the players a gold basketball with a diamond embedded in it.
Maybe my name should be 2lane?
You'll love SoWal at Thanksgiving. Actually we had a lot of fun here tonight, watching football games at the bar at Shades.
Well Ms. 2lane.... Next football season (I think) we're set to go at it again. :boxing:
Don't tell anyone..but..I've always liked Tulane. (Maybe that's because I'm from BAMA and came to the LSU/Tulane rivalry late in the game--so to speak. I tried to hate em, I really have, but Spurrier is more fun to hate (football-wise)....

I can't compete with that. Not on Bama turf anyway. :nono1:
Surround sound, recliner and beer is awfully nice too...
Kurt, I think she's a Bama fan, do you really want to sit with her? :rolling:
Welcome Ellesu! I agree with the others, you will love SoWal!
We are going to be down Thanksgiving week as well, and it looks like Publix will be busy that week!
Everyone here should wear nametags so I will know who you are if I run into you! :floor:
Thank you for the welcome! 😀
Yep. There will most likely be a long line at the Publix. Maybe they should give us all a 'I bought my Thanksgiving turkey at Publix' tag....
Modica Market will also cook for Thanksgiving. They make an awesome squash casserole. My husband ordered a 10 year supply for last year - the food is great there. They have a website, too - www.modicamarket.comThanks! Squash casserole is a must around here. At this rate we're going to have to bring some extra people to eat all this food I'm planning....
Hi ellesu...:clap_1: Now we're talking! Wonder if they'll be as good as Chris'? My husband's beginning to wonder if we're going to the beach or a tasting fair because I keep looking up all the places that are being mentioned and reading menus out loud to him.... 😀

The Watercolor market made a really good traditional Thanksgiving dinner for us a couple years ago - about $10 per person, with plenty of traditional leftovers. I don't know if they're doing it again this year. I also don't have their number, but you can probably reach them through the welcome center at 850.231.3701.

Hi ellesu...BTW I have a Paul Prudhomme andouille sausage dressing recipe if you want it. Cocoon's sells some really good andouille - better than what I used to order from 1-800-4KP-AULS (K-Paul's).
