Can laws be ignored if enough notice is given?

Would certainly like to discuss the possibility after reading posts in this forum. I had never thought of it before, but if enough notice and publication is given in advance, should it be okay to suspend ordinances for certain periods of time? Does economic benefit come into play or should it?

Can you give an example?

I think he is referring to the noise ordinance, Jazz Fest at Gulf Place, and all that.

Public nudity.

I was completely unaware that there was a current festival or exception for nudity! :idontno:

IMO if I have to legally keep my clothes on so does everyone else!

No, it was just a commentary on my policy regarding laws - if I have to follow them, everybody else does too!

I do think that some laws should be temporarily suspended for certain time periods, in certain places, in certain circumstances.

We need more examples/scenarios! This is too general IMO.

Granted my coffee hasn't kicked in yet, but I am having trouble thinking of non-emergency scenarios where laws should be suspended. :idontno:

Most of the things I am thinking of already have a system in place to regulate certain activities for the general welfare - parade permits, burn/bonfire permits. Those aren't suspensions, just procedure to follow. Don't they just prohibit unlicensed/unpermitted activies, so if you have a license permit you aren't suspending the rules.

Okay, so if government puts in a process for the suspension of laws, such as the request of a permit, plan for how to handle traffice, things of that nature, then not a big deal. If the process is followed?

Yep, I don't have a problem with well planned, permitted, and totally kosher exceptions to general ordinances.

I am still highly entertained by the idea of just what special conditions would allow for public nudity rules to be suspended! Massive global warming? :funn:

Not enough information.

Is this scenario going to end w/ some horribly objectionable hate group like the KKK wanting a permit? :idontno:

If so, let them gather - makes it easier to hit them w/ lightning bolts (or other items)!

I do not think anyone does. Especially when they show economic benefit to the area. But if not permitted, are people just suppose to look the other way? I would think not. What would be the purpose of having laws if anyone could ignore them.

Oh Scooterbug! What a "glass 1/2 full" way of looking at such an ugly possibility

Public nudity.

Please tell me this is a rhetorical question and that you aren't planning anything.

WRobert I'm not sure if this is what your talking about but I'll give it a try. The Red Bar gets permission or what ever to go past the noise ordinance on certain holidays. An example would be New Years Th of July etc. so as they can stay open till AM instead of 12. I have always wondered how grayton beach etc. can make the rules for one area an not the whole county, district etc. :idontno:

I believe it is along the same lines as the 50ft height restriction for South Walton.

The Grayton zone is different than the rest of the south end of the county in regards to noise.

Sort of what I was talking about. But they do file paperwork to get it done, they just do not go and do it.

But now it really doesn't matter. Rapunzel, Aleonard, and ShallowsNole just want to talk about me being nekkid. I did ShallowsFuzz a favor and took ShallowsNole off his hands for one evening. I was the sober one so I am pretty sure it was not a big deal, but you know how them girls get in their little groups and talk. Now it seems I am developing a reputation.

So pick a less exciting ordinance to violate. Not many places in SoWal to get nekkid anymore anyway. :ninja:

Robert, I notice your first post is quite different from the title of the thread. Are we talking about ignoring laws, or temporarily suspending laws through a legal process?
