People who blare their vehicle music on beach

Just a note to you that do this...PLEASE, please let all enjoy the natural noise of the beach and keep your vehicle music, your load speakers, etc. at home. Today, while trying to relax at the beach in Grayton, I could not find a place to just sit and think or read a book for the amount of vehicles that were "sharing" their music with all to hear. Please be forwarned...this is in violation of the beach rules and really needs to be addressed with the county. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

Contact your county comissioner to discuss a new ordinance unless it is already on the books. If it is, call the WCSD non-emergency line and report it.

I think the ordinance for vehicles says something about AMPLIFIED music being heard from a certain distance. So if the person is just playing a radio or car stereo without am amp it might not apply.

Go to another beach....there are plenty of others without vehicles.

I believe all radios in cars today have built-in amps, otherwise, you wouldn't be able to hear them at all.

I really don't want to listen to radios at the beach either, and wish that people kept their music more to themselves.

It is annoying to listen to music that one doesn't prefer, like rap...when you are trying to chill on the beach....

It's a matter of respecting others.

So many issues are just about respecting others - picking up your trash/firework debris, keeping your music tolerable (while your vehicle is parked and in motion), taking your stuff of the beach at night, bike riding and driving behavior, "private" beaches etc.

Whole lotta me, me, me, and not caring about how that affects others!

You are right... In this age of entitlement respect for others has taken a backseat. I wonder which of these takes more of a priority over the other... examples- radio volume vs. a clean beach. Shooting mostly illegal fireworks within feet of other people including our children. It's not anarchy but it is disturbing.:(

If it doesn't involve an amp you should be good.

 I would enjoy it once or twice....

we have had to move to the other end of the beach during sunset & dinner - remember mangy?

yes, there are other beaches with no vehicles, but there is no need for any blaring noises of any kind on the beach, imo. I didn't realize there was an ordinance limiting the noise level, but glad to hear it.

here's a tip: do not go to the beach during the first week of July. Ever. it is not relaxing at all and only results in frustration for many of us. stay away!!! I would love to get the hail out of town for July 4th, but who wants to be on the road over the holiday? not me. so, home is good enough. and I literally mean "home". as in stay in the house.

maybe its time to put into action our idea to do our own Pt Washington 4th of July Choctawhatchee Bay Parade, starting at Eden State Park and going down 395 through "downtown" and ending at Eden for a little breakfast picnic. then we never have to cross 98. hate to abandon the Grayton Beach Roll Out of Bed with PJ's parade, but...

I agree

Last year, while doing a long run on 30-A, early afternoon, a few kids threw a cup full of slushie out at me. Really upset my mojo and pissed me off.

I totally agree with the music not being blared. If they want to blare, go down to Destin where all the high-rises will sheild the sound.
