Stolen Obama signs

Two of my neighbors and myself had Obama campaign signs stolen between yesterday and today from our front yards. Any ideas on something smelly that I can spray on them if they come back again?

"yellow fly sticky foot" is clear paint on stuff for those black yellow fly balls(insert smart a$$ comment here) would serve the purpose. kinda like sap...

It isn't smelly, but there are a few companies which make motion sensors to add to a garden hose, to help scare and repel deer from your fancy plants, in a safe way. You could at least drench the thief by setting up one of those.

Well lets see. there are 14 days left till the election. I can buy 2 signs for $5.00. So for $35.00 I can buy enough for everyday and contribute to the cause. How much is the Yellow fly gunk?

You can probably get the fly goop much cheaper, and would be more funny. However, you can use the Havahart for other things like guarding your seasonal yard decorations -- eg- Halloween, Christmas, etc.

Hope the stolen signs weren't used like this Obama sign was used- wrapped around a bear cub that had been shot dead in Western North Carolina.

I read about this yesterday. It sickened me.

I don't know what happened to yours, but I've got a stack of them in my garage, barely used. I'll sell them to ya cheap! :lol:

why does it piss people off that obama is able to raise so much money with donations averaging less than $100 per person? jealousy, perhaps? i'm sure if mccain thought he could raise those kinds of dollars, he would have chosen a different path. where is all that republican money??????????? must have been used for the bailout since our republican president and congress (for 6 years) wanted small government (NOT!!!) but took our country into a pretty much socialized banking industry.

Make sure if you use this method to set up a video camera to record the event then post it on YouTube for all of our enjoyment. Sign stealers being doused with sprinklers unexpectedly could give us all the laugh we need.

It must be the Bush/Cheney Patriot Act that authorizes campaign-sign stealing, as another necessary limitation on our freedom of expression.

Just as it's my responsibility to clean up my signs after election day, it's your responsibility to not ef with my sign while it's up.

No, they just don't feel strongly enough to donate. They would rather spend their time scaring people with tactless slanders rather than be proactive and giving their own money. I'm ready for some folks to start talking about why we "should" elect McCain instead of why we "should not" vote for Obama. If I were a Republican and saw such a movement, I would probably steal some signs too, as they are popping up like weeds. Not hating on all Repubs, some of the best folks I know are confused. 😀

Someone stole my McCain/Palin signs off my property last night so I guess the Obama people are trying to get even.

Someone took my McCain sticker off my car! I was angry that someone would be that low.

He got into trouble when he wrote about stealing McCain/Palin campaign signs from yards in Northfield.

A visiting St. Olaf instructor who wrote an online essay about stealing John McCain lawn signs -- "like a ninja under the cover of cloudy Minnesota night" -- has resigned, the Northfield college announced.
Philip Busse, a journalist and political activist from Portland, Ore. who taught a media studies course, also will be charged with misdemeanor theft. He could face up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine, according to the Rice County Sheriff's Office.
After learning of Busse's essay, "Confessions of a Lawn Sign Stealer," St. Olaf denounced his actions, saying they "were in direct conflict with the college's values and mission."
On Monday, it issued a statement that "Mr. Busse has tendered his resignation and is no longer affiliated with St. Olaf College."
In Busse's essay, published on the political Huffington Post website last week, Busse used data, news articles and first-hand accounts to explore the impact of political lawn-sign theft, as well as its legal and ethical implications. He wrote:
"Sure, I understand that stealing a sign will not change anyone's mind, and, most likely, will only embolden McCain supporters' disdain for liberals. Even so, yanking out the signs and running like a scared rabbit back to my idling car was one of the single most exhilarating and empowering political acts that I have ever done."
Later, he writes: "Mature? No. Illegal? Yes. Satisfying? Definitely."
Busse said Saturday that "in this politically charged environment we all say and do stupid things." He noted that he had talked Friday with the Rice County sheriff and offered restitution for the signs.
He did not immediately return a phone call about his resignation.

A friend of mine was driving down hwy 98 heading west, he told me there was an elderly gentleman driving a Cadillac wearing a gray jump suit and carrying a golf club hitting OBAMA signs in the median.:floor:Not sure what he was attempting to accomplish.

Some smart-arse in my 'hood pulled up all my Nelson signs by the time Fuzz went out yesterday to get them. Every blasted one except the one in front of my house.

It was obviously done in spite, as the Adkinson signs were left alone. :pissed:

Perhaps the thief will be so kind as to take them to the firefighters so they can be recycled. That's where our Adkinson signs and our one remaining Nelson sign are going.
