Hi Sowal!
I don't usually put such personal news out there ... but our nephew has been diagnosed with terminal bone cancer and has been given 6 months to live. He is 20 years old (My apologies to anyone who I told his age was 18 - apparently he stopped aging in my mind once our son was born.) His treatment options are radiation, interleukin and a homeopathic treatment that he just began.
He is on the prayer list at a few local churches and we are so grateful for that.
We just returned from Miami to visit with him. He underwent an extensive 6-hour surgery to remove a broken vertebra from his spine. As a result, he is in a huge neck brace for the next 6 weeks.
As you can imagine, radiation therapy is even less fun when you are recovering from spinal surgery.
His spirits are very low at the moment.
I thought that maybe when you are sending out your Christmas cards this year, if you have an extra in the bunch it would mean so much to his mom and to Joey to know that people are praying for him and thinking of him.
I appreciate everyone who has added him to their prayers and thoughts.

Update
Joey was admitted to the hospital last night and began his interleukin treatments this morning. We are very thankful for this ... the doctors were saying he wouldn't be able to start them for another 3 weeks because of his recovery from surgery.
The interleukin is supposed (and if someone has experience please weigh in) to help boost his immune system so his body can fight the cancer. He'll be in the hospital for the next 5 days.
Dawn (his mom) received a card from Gulf Breeze today and was so appreciative at the support. She was taking it to the hospital to show Joey. Knowing that people are praying for her son really gives her and her husband strength.
Today some of her friends are hosting a raffle in Miami to help the family too.
I hope to have photos to post soon and will start adding updates about Joey's treatment to his site as well (www.bejoeysmiracle.com).

Thank you so much for the update. I look forward to reading many more postive updates. I wish Joey and his entire family nothing but the best. I bet he is very thankful for his family being at his side, and he is lucky to have such a caring aunt cheering him on.
