O.K.
So who knows what happened in the Yanni's location last night? I got a phone call saying it was on fire this was about 10:30, and I DO NOT operate heavy machinery until Ive had my coffee.

Any info???

In my youth we performed renovations on Diners. Once you get into the system you knew you had work for a long time. It was like a circuit of re-occuring work.

I will make a few calls and find out more, but the restaurant was closed due to leasing issues.

We heard a lot of sirens last night starting at about 9:30, if it was Yanni's, the proximity would make sense.

I understand that restaurants have fires on a fairly regular basis, but those are generally operating restaurants.

We heard all sorts of sirens from home (yes, even that far back we can hear Hwy 98) but Fuzz was off duty and not near a radio, and he didn't want to call dispatch when they were obviously busy. Then we went back inside and forgot about it.

Was it Yanni's? Or what was it?

Yep - it was an interior fire with little evidence outside except some soffit and fascia missing. It looked like all the Yianni's equipment was still in the building.

The businesses in the same building are open today.

Apparently it was started by the sign on the front of the building. Nothing suspicious.

That is so sad. As if they didn't have enough that they were going through.

I drove around there today and noticed the sign (intact with no burn marks) at the back of the storage buildings in the back but did notice a large pile of concrete and tiles behind the place. Not sure if that was removed for drainage or what. But both back doors were standing open and there was still the smell of smoke around there.

I trust that my source isn't steering me wrong. ;-)

Does anyone know if the fire department is going to conduct an investigation?

I believe an investigation is standard for insurance/liability reasons.

Don't understand how Yianni's caught on fire - I had eaten there several times - usually it's the ones I haven't eaten at that burn.

My understanding is that it is already done. There was an electrical problem with the sign and it caught fire. Generally the fire marshal can complete an investigation pretty quickly if there's no foul play. Accidents are easy to prove, arson takes forever.

The fire was in fact started by the sign that was removed earlier that day. The timer that turns the light on at night was not tested...therefore it kicked on and the wires caught just the pillar on fire..very minor. The interior of the building is fine. The only damage was to the pillar on the outside of the building.

This does not seem to jive with WCCOP's response. Our sources should be accurate, right Kurt?

The timer is located inside, thus an interior fire though small.

Thanks, I am sure your source wouldn't let you down. Mine-an SWFD spokesperson that told me there was no interior fire as mentioned previously.
