Please count me in as one of the people who gets old and drinks wine with friends at Conch Out (we'll make our cottages available, too)! Can we add pate, cheeses, etc. that guests bring, along with the wine?

Don't forget Depends...we will be laughing like :rolling: .

If Donna makes us sit outside in the sand, we will know why. Maybe we'll have to sit on newspapers!

You guys all crack me up about aging parents and what to do with them :floor: ! My mom is not really that old. In fact, we're both celebrating big birthdays this year...her 60 and me 40. We have been doing spring break together for many years as my grandmother lived in Naples. The problem is I NEVER know what to expect from my mom, so I always hope for the best and keep my mouth shut. That way my kids have fun with her. But in this case, even though I haven't been coming to the area for all that long (my husband and other extended family visit with me in the summer...they like it HOT) I don't want to hear her complain about my favorite place ever! I am afraid I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut. Either way, I booked our place today for Easter week (Apr. 15-22) and plan on reading a great book and relaxing with my kids whatever the weather may bring! Hopefully all of you seasoned veterans and locals can help me in the coming weeks with restaurant/things to do recommendations ;-) By the way, Kurt said something about the new seawall at Adagio...does anyone know anything about it or the beach there?

Kimbug- you better start reading now- there are threads and threads on restaurants, activites, etc. I wish I had been better organized and saved some of the posts that are now buried under titles that are not related to the subject- which is from an epidemic of tangent disease. I have it, and probably contracted it on this board!:clap_1:

That's why it is important to start new threads. It helps everyone out.

I made a few notes to myself like this when my first child was born.....things not to do when she has a baby and I'm the grandmother.

Do not tell her she's being selfish with the baby. 😱
Do all her daily chores including laundry.
Support her in any way and be positive.
Cook for her
No pouting.

My Mom got a lot better with subsequent grandchildren but I had to be the guinea pig.

My daughter accidentially locked Camde in her truck tonight. She got so stressed she forgot the code to the door, couldn't get her husband. The dead bolt on her front door was jammed I couldn't unclock it with my key and the key pad on her garage door would not work. I finally beat the crap out of the key pad to bring it to life, got in, got the key, took it to her. She had finally gotten her husband, Camden slept the whole time. I made sure she was OK, gave her her extra keys, drove home. She just called, "thanks for not telling me what a bad Mom I was tonight, Mom."

I just told her, "your a great Mommy honey, Camden's a lucky boy." And you know what? He is.

That was sweet of you. I can totally relate...I did the same thing at a Bob Evans when Dylan was 5 months old. He slept through the whole thing but I was freaking out. The police came to unlock the door. The cop was a total jerk, made me feel like sh&^ and broke the lock too. I was just happy when it was all over.

Oh my! I hope she could sleep last night! Did you tell her that in 20 years, this story will come up at holiday dinners, and she will be teased?:rolling: Tell her some of  the best parenting stories are the ones that were awful at the time....
