The best part is that now, as a Master Gardner, she gets to help us with gardening issues as part of her service to the community.

I know Brooke was happy to graduate another class of Master Naturalists.
Congrats, Punzy!

Actually, I'm only a Freshwater Wetlands Master Naturalist...there are three modules required to be a full fledged Master Naturalist, and I have two to go before Florida Master Naturalist.

By the way, if anyone is interested in the program -- I can't tell you how enjoyable the Master Naturalist program is. It's split between Okaloosa and Walton Counties, so there is a lot of driving. The payoff is that you get to go on field trips with UF professors and other experts and learn about our flora and fauna. The trip to Eglin was really incredible...we visited a seepage slope that is basically a field of pitcher plants and sundews. It was beautiful. Had it not been for this class I'm not sure I'd have ever realized what an incredible resource Eglin is...I'm dying to go back and kayak Boiling Creek!

Way to go Punzy!
.
The pitcher plants remind me of a Botany field trip out onto a bog in Michigan where there were pitcher plants growing. That was the coolest sensation to bounce up and down on the bog, knowing it was water underneath.

Does Eglin have a bog or are they just growing in a wet area?
