Get ready for more taxes, less service in $65B budget deal
Republicans have lost their way, even in Florida. But it is okay, these are fees.
Now let us see what Crist does with it.

The sad thing is, once they raise them, even though they claim it's temporary, they never lower them back down. Lets hope Crist puts that veto pen to work. I'm doubtful he will.

Well, maybe we can still get the $6MM back that NWFSC plans to build that airplane hangar with....
This should not be a surprise to anyone. Revenue had grown artificially throughout the real estate boom, and now revenue is slipping. While the money was there, it was spent, and it's real hard to tell folks that programs which were put in place are going to have to be cut. Just like a lot of people, the legislature thought that the boom was a trend, not a bubble. Wasn't there some ridiculous number floating around out there like "1,000 people move to Florida every day"? Heavens, we need roads! Schools! Airplane hangars!
Wait until next year's county budget meetings, when the property appraisers have to cut your assessments to reflect all of the post-foreclosure sales (which ARE qualified sales). You're going to see our own county commission chasing their tails when they figure out they have to go back to 2002/2003 spending levels, just like the rest of us.

I'm looking forward to seeing what property sales actually look like on Jan. 1, 2010! Wahoo~~~~~

Catch up man. They already voted to kill the project and send back 5.7 million. Now they are trying to get Crist to let them keep the $300K they already spent.

See what I mean? I read the NWFDN every day, and that was news to me.

You got to read the Tampa Bay Buzz to find out what is really going on. All the news and rumor fit to report, and some not.

Aren't they the ones who busted Ray Sansom?

The St. Pete Times if I am remember correctly brought it all up. And if you here Okaloosa residents tell it, it was those darn liberal central florida communists papers that exposed those shenanigans.
