If they are the T-6 trainers, they all fly out of Destin.

These weren't T-6. Big ole radial engines.

The North American T-6 "Texan" trainer of the WWII era did in fact have a single radial engine, usually a P&W "Wasp" of about 550 hp. The Navy version of this plane was known as an SNJ.
Not to be confused with the present-day single-turbine T-6 "Texan II" trainer.

Yup...big ol' round engines! Nothing sounds better on an airplane IMHO! You forgot about the Canadian / British version...The Harvard!

If memory serves, one is a local dentist and another is a contractor. Not sure about the third. They certainly enjoy themselves!

Hop - Check your PMs. For anyone that is interested, they are supposed to be doing a fly by for the opening of Odom's FBO at Destin Airport today. 5pm.

A new FBO? Miracle Strip Aviation has some competition, now?

"I like aviation. I saw a need here for some competition. I ran the numbers and thought it would be a good business option."
Once you throw in some tax payer money to pay for your business it probably does make sense to go with it.
"I'm glad we're finally open. There were lots of hurdles," said Bill Blackford, Destin Jet's general manager.
That bribe money doesn't deliver itself.
Many residents have complained over the years that the business only would add more noise to the already loud airport.
Luckily they were poor and without influence so JO was able to steam roll them.
